Taylor, this is an entrepreneurship blog and the journey of entrepreneurship and chasing your passions... why are you talking about the gym?

Well, because it has changed the results of my business more than a basic strategy shift has.

If you have tried a ton of different social media and business strategies without much success, then you might want to start looking towards the gym, or even other habits you might have.

When you look at other areas of your life, you start to create discipline in your life that wasn't there before and there are a few areas that are easy to start creating discipline.

Those are education, the gym and what you eat.

When you become disciplined in one (or all of these areas) they will start to translate into other areas of your life (SUCH AS BUSINESS).

That is why I am talking about this today, so let's get started!

The Gym and My Business

I was getting no real results in any area of my life through this new year, and as usual my "new years resolution" wasn't changing much because it wasn't really a goal, it was just an idea.

That is when I decided that I was sick of not getting any results and I wanted to start seeing results. To be honest, I was pretty lazy so I decided that I wanted to build discipline into my life and if I started in the gym, which I always had dabbled at but never took seriously, maybe it would translate into other areas of my life.

So, I put emotion behind the goal of becoming more disciplined and getting stronger in the gym because I was always the "skinny kid" and hated when people said that. The best goals have emotions and reasons behind them, put the emotion of how you felt when people said something to you and use that as motivation so you never have to feel like that again.

I started to plan out my exercises, started to time my rests, started focusing on form and even tracking what I ate.

And the results didn't come right away, on the end of my body at least because just like building a business, it is a process that you have to accept. Results don't happen overnight.

What I did start to notice though were the results in other areas of my life. This habit of taking the gym seriously started to build discipline into my life and then that translated to other areas too.

I actually wanted to start building discipline into other areas of my life, as it was making me feel really good being disciplined in the gym.

So, I started with my education and started making it a point to read books and articles in my niche and just about life in general for a few hours each day. 

I then started to focus on using that discipline to block out my time each day, get more work done, network with more people and start putting out more content.

​It has really made the biggest difference thus far in my life, I really hope you all try it out too!

What Working Out Can Teach You About
​Entrepreneurship

From what I have learned, so far that is, is that there are three major things (and a ton of smaller things) that you can learn about life and business from the gym.

The first major thing, you can see, is that you only get the results if you put in the work. If you aren't there almost everyday putting in the work and challenging yourself, you are not going to see any real results.

Seems like common sense, right?

Well, I would assume so, but there are so many entrepreneurs out there that think "planning" their business is putting in the work and taking action. NOPE.

That is like saying you are going to get results when you write down your workout but never go to the gym. It just isn't going to happen.

So, stop playing "pretend business" and GET TO WORK, if this is what you really want.

The next major thing that the gym can teach us is that you control the results. Kind of like what I said above, you have to put in the work to get the results.

You can't expect someone else to workout for you and you get a good looking body, just not going to happen. The AMOUNT of work that you are putting in will determine your results, so maybe you should try putting in some more work if you don't see results and stop saying you are "grinding" when you are only working a few hours each day on your goals.

The final thing that the gym can teach us about entrepreneurship and life is that you constantly have to be improving and challenging yourself to try new things if you want to keep seeing results.

​Just like in the gym when your results start to plateau and you seem to be not improving, you have to try new exercises, increase the weight and target new muscles, you have to do the same in business.

When you seem to be in a rut where you aren't seeing anymore real growth, that is the time to reshift your focus, try something new and start attacking the problem you solve from new angles.

This will allow you to start seeing new results and keep the momentum going towards those results.

How To Start Implementing This Into Your Life

So, how do you start implementing the gym, or even just discipline into your life?

Well, I will start with the gym and then go into some other areas, if you are already consistently hitting the gym.

You have to start off with actually getting the gym membership (obviously), then move into planning out your exercises and what weight you should be using for each. You can find a ton of helpful information online, just by sitting down for a few hours and learning about fitness.

Then, you actually have to take the steps to go to the gym consistently, pick a time of day and stick with what works for you.

If you are already consistently going to the gym, maybe research some exercises or more on the industry, take it more seriously to see what workouts will start getting you results. Or start to focus on your diet.

Focusing on your diet is another great way to build discipline into your life. Start by figuring out how many calories you need to eat each day to maintain your weight and then figure out what your weight goals are. Then start tracking everything you eat, using a great app called MyFitnessPal, that makes it super easy.

You can even go farther than that and start researching diets to lose fat or build muscle and start eating meals based on those diets, what I recommend to really start building discipline.

Finally, other ways you can build discipline, outside of health and fitness, is to start focusing a few hours EVERYDAY on your education.

Read books, articles and listen to podcasts and watch YouTube videos not just based around your niche, but based around life and understanding people.

Also, focus on the success stories of others, as they have found what it takes to win and can help you save years of learning!

One of the best ways I found to build discipline around business was to block out the 5 most important business tasks that day into different hours of the day. Then shut off my phone and ONLY focus on those tasks at those points in the day.

Just like yesterdays blog on what going to the gym can teach us about entrepreneurship. this is going to be what eating right can teach you about entrepreneurship.

Not just eating right like you have an apple everyday or something easy like that.

Eating right in the way that is kind of hard and teaches discipline. That eating right.

Anyone can eat an apple or some fruit everyday but not everyone can create the discipline that it takes to stick to a balanced meal plan or diet.

This is for the people who want to take their entrepreneurship or even just their life to the next level and start seeing results

Results in both your health and body as well as entrepreneurship!

This is one of my favorite topics, so, let's get started!

My Story About Health

I was eating like shit. Straight up.

My energy was low, my workouts were not showing results and my business was slacking and I just didn't have the motivation or habits to do much anymore.

I had already made changed up my gym habits and needed that little extra something to build my discipline and start getting more results in life and in the gym.

I researched for a few days about how to get better results in the gym, to start out, and the number one thing that came up was eating right. I also connected this to business in the sense that it will help me build the habits of tracking what I am doing and making sure I don't get lazy during any part of the day.

Once I started to out this eating plan into use, I started not only seeing results in the gym but I also got more energy and discipline.

The energy and discipline came within the first few days and I started having more energy and discipline which allowed me to get more work in and be more consistent in my work, not getting distracted as much.

What To Focus on in Your Diet

The things you should be focusing on is determined by what your goals are for the diet. Are you trying to gain weight? Put on muscle? Lose weight? Get more lean?

Figure out what your goal is and then to start off focus on the main things (protein, carbs, fats and calories) that you are consuming each day and how they relate to your goals.

​To figure out the numbers you need, first figure out the daily calories you need to be in taking, based on your age, weight, activity level and height, and then increase or decrease based off of that.

But, this is not a fitness blog so I will leave the eating research for you because it is different for everybody! PUT IN THE WORK and research for a few hours what you need to focus on. Then calculate your numbers and percentages and start putting them into action.

How do you track these numbers though?

One of the easiest ways to track these numbers, in the busy life of an entrepreneur, is through a FREE app called MyFitnessPal.

This app is what I use because it allows you to either take pictures of the bar code or search the food in their app to find the nutrition information. Then it adds up everything you enter for the day and gives you how many more calories, fat, protein, carbs, etc you have for the day left.

It is one of the easiest apps and I highly recommend it.

What Your Eating Habits Can Teach You About
​Entrepreneurship

So, what are these good eating habits going to help you with and teach you about life, business and entrepreneurship?

Well, I will start out with what they will help you with. Eating better, or eating with a goal behind what you are eating, is going to give you more energy and just get you feeling better and wanting to get up early and start working on your passions.

It is also going to start building that discipline as you track EVERYTHING you eat, and this has the power to translate into other areas of your life, when you want it to.

Keyword, WANTED TO.

Yes, you are going to have more discipline, if you are not half ass-ing anything, but you have to make the conscious choice to actually bring this habit into the other area of your life. You have to put in the work, it won't just happen for you.

​What can changing your eating habits teach us about entrepreneurship, now?

First, when you combine eating right with the right gym routine, you are going to start seeing the physical results. This shows that when you actually put in the work, that is when you are going to see the results.

Planning what you want to eat is not going to help you lose weight, if you don't actually start eating those foods. Just, like planning your business isn't going to get you results if you don't start doing the work.

But may people never pick up the phone, send out the emails, or put in the work and wonder why they don't get results.

Finally, this new diet is going to show you the power of the journey. You can't just eat right for a week and then expect to have a perfect body. It takes time! It takes months or years i the gym AND eating right to get results.

Why would you look at business any other way?

Why are people getting mad when they don't see results in a few months or the first year? DO you expect to see results that quick?

It just doesn't work like that. You have to put in the work and then you will start to see the results. You have to give it time and respect the process. That is the only way you will win.

Do you think that you are the only one doing what you do online?

Sorry to say this, but you are wrong.

No matter how unique your idea is there is likely many other people doing the exact same thing or at least something very similar.

Actually probably thousands of people.

You have to find a way to stand out not only for this reason but because you need the attention online and you get attention by standing out.

So, stop thinking you have a super unique idea and start thinking how you can stand out and get attention.

Are you ready?

You Are Not The Only One

You think you have a super unique idea? You probably do but there are also probably others with a similar idea out there in the world.

With so many people out there, the odds with someone having the same idea are VERY HIGH.

Don't be discouraged by that though, others doing the same thing means that there is a market out there for it. If you have a new idea, that is great but you might spend more time testing and getting people to back your idea.

Get out of the mindset that you have to have an idea that nobody else has, because you are going to be sitting around forever trying to find an idea.

And you are likely never going to find that idea that nobody else has.

Rather focus on taking action on that idea and standing out in your niche because that is what really matters and what is going to make you stand out.

Focus on finding your VOICE and not finding an idea that nobody else has.

What Makes You Stand Out

With all these people with the same idea, how are you going to stand out?

You have to find your voice, what is going to make you stand out.

What is your voice you might ask?

It is anything that makes you unique and stand out. Just like Gary Vaynerchuk has his energy and marketing expertise that stands out, Andy Frisella has his realness that makes him stand out as an entrepreneur, etc.

A great example that lets you easily see this "voice," is in clothing. Every brand has that thing that makes them stand out. Whether it is luxury like Gucci or even hype and masters of street wear that Supreme has.

You have to find out what you can do to make yourself stand out.

Make videos that are entertaining and go viral. Share your personality in your brand. Share your interests and what you like outside of your business.

​A great idea is to start a vlog or even Instagram stories of a behind the scenes of your business that showcases your passions, personality, etc.

There is nobody that can replicate how you execute an idea and there is nobody that can replicate your personality. That is what makes your stand out in business.

That is why businesses win, they start bringing a personality that is relatible to other people.

That is also how people start growing on social media. They have that personality that others can relate to and start attracting those people to follow them.

Why Your Voice Is Your Leverage

Nobody can execute an idea like you can and nobody has the same thoughts or the same passions as you.

When you start to bring your voice into your business and social media pages you start to attract people that agree with your voice, find it interesting or find it funny.

You start attracting the people like you and that have similar passions and that is what creates a community that engages, trusts you and wants to support you buy buying your products or services.

Ever see those social media accounts that have super high engagement and not the largest following? Or even if they have a large following?

They have that and can engage with those people because they knew what their voice was and then leveraged that voice to attract a following of like minded people.

Then, these people are more encouraged to consume your content and even buy from you.

That is how you win and stand out.

How To Start Building A Community Around This

So once you determine what your voice is, whether that be through entertaining, educating, bringing them value, and/or bringing your passions into your business, how do you start implementing that?

You start leveraging the social media platforms you have first of all. 

Start using Facebook Live or Instagram live to do question and answer questions. Start using Instagram stories to do a "behind the scenes" of your business. Start posting content that is more on a personal level (this is one of the biggest ones).

Next, you can start to bring that personality into your ads, by creating video ads with people from your business, or from you if you are working solo right now!

You can also start to bring it into your business, by how you run things like meetings and what is in the store/ around the office.

Finally, another great idea is to add this personality to your website through personal images and videos to take it a step up from a bland and basic website. This will increase website views and conversions!

You hear all this hype on social media, but is it true? Are people actually getting that much attention and sales on social media?

Well, you jumped on social media and just aren't getting the results you wanted to. So, now what?

It is true, people ARE getting these results on social media because of the power it has in people's lives now a says, all the attention on it and the way it allows you to build a community.

You just have to know how to use it right and how to direct people from there to a website or sales page to actually get them to buy.

That is what this blog is about, how to use social media in a way that is less focused on selling and more focused on giving as a way to sell more products.

Crazy, right? 

Well this is what I am going to show you, let's get started!

Why Social Media Is Important

TV commercials, billboards and direct mail used to be the best way to market and sell. Even, email used to be way better than it is now, with really low open rates!

Why was that?

Because that is where the attention was, people used to look there, people used to trust that emails were not spam and people used to watch commercials.

That has changed, people are scrolling through Facebook instead of watching commercials, on their phones and not paying attention to billboards and not opening their personal email as much.

Now they are on social media for 2-3 hours a day, scrolling through everything on their timeline. it is like an addiction that they can't get enough of. Constantly refreshing their feeds to see if there is anything new.

That is why social media is so important, the attention is there and attention is like the oxygen of your business. Without attention you will NOT survive.

Without attention nobody will know what your product or service is or how it can benefit them. Even if it is the best things out there, they just won't know about it.

Social media also allows for engagement and one on one communication with people in your niche and with potential customers.

It allows you to be a community that trusts you and wants to hear what you say, because they are talking directly to YOU and not through some email or reading some billboard.

You can answer their questions, build a reputation and become the go to guy in your niche all from your iPhone.

The Most Important Thing on Social Media

The thing you need to focus on when trying to grow and sell on social media is to actually GIVE. Don't go for the ask or sale right away, you haven't gave them a reason to do what you say and they are most likely just going to get annoyed.

When you GIVE value, such as entertainment, lessons, tips, free products or services or anything else, FIRST then they have a real reason to do what you want them to... because you already benefited them earlier.

​BUT the key here is to give way more than you ask for and never give in order for them to buy later on, give to give.

Give through content, Q&A sessions on live stream, any value you can provide to them. And never give with the goal of them buying in a few posts because that never works and they are not obligated to buy from you.

Focus on the relationship and play the long term game.

a good rule of thumb for social media is to give 3-4x more than you ask for something. Say if you want them to join an email list, provide value in 3-4 pieces of content or posts on social media before you go for the ask.
Just a little break in the blog here to say that you can hear more and engage more one on one with the community on social media.

The Strategy to Sell

The strategy to sell is to first create the relationship. Plain and simple.

I have a few larger accounts (20k followers) and I can't tell you how many direct messages I get that are just telling me to do something for them

Like why the hell would I do something for them, what have they done for me?

Build the relationship first, focus on engaging, liking and commenting on their posts and creating a relationship for them.

A great way is also to offer them something for free on the front end and help them solve a problem before you can sell them on the back end.

You can also offer free services and then sell them with more on the back end.

The strategy I will focus on here is going to be that FREE service route and how you can implement that to get sales on social media.

First, for those of you offering a service start by reaching out to people in your niche (I'll talk about how to do this next section) and then you are going to want to offer that free service to them. After make sure to capture a email, phone number and contact information so that you can reach out to them later.

A week or so after you complete the free service to them, contact them explaining how you have helped them in the past, the results they saw and how you can get them more results by working with them closer. This is how you sell on the back end after the free service.

For those of you with products, offer a portion of your product (if a book or guide) to them for free and the upcharge them if they want to continue and read more. For physical products this is a little harder unless you have a main physical product and then other ones.

You can send them the product using the FREE + shipping method where you just charge more on the shipping.

Or you can ask for their email, phone number, a follow on social media, etc when you give them a product for free and then you can reach out to them for more sales in the future.

How To Reach Out Directly To People on Social Media

So, you have learned a few (of many ways) to reach out on social media, how do you find people to reach out to though?

Well, if you use the strategies above or not, to reach out, you are going to need to know where to find people to connect with or contact. There are a few ways but I am going to go over two of my favorite ways.

The first way is to simply go onto hashtags in your niche (large and small) and see the accounts engaging on the recent posts an engaging more importantly on the top posts.

The second strategy is similar but you are going to go to influencers in your niche and see the people that are engaging on their posts with likes and more importantly, comments.

Look for genuine comments that are though provoking not just ones like "nice post" or something basic like that because those people aren't really that engaged i the community.

The reason we are going to target the most engaged people and not just people following the influencer or just posting in the hashtag is because we want someone that cares about the community, is active and is looking to learn more.

Other accounts have a high likely hood of not responding or just not caring that much about the industry or improving in it. We want people that are actually going to care and WANT to respond.

The Power of Social Media To Multiply Your Sales

Just like in the past when billboards had the power to get 10x the people into your business. Social media has the same power but with even more reach.

It allows you to connect with literally anyone in the world and start creating a relationship with them and potentially working with them or having them buy from you.

Before you were limited to people in your local area to see your ads, now you can run ads to literally anyone and create countless customers.

Crazy right?

How To Get Your First Clients Online As A Business

"Jump online they said. It will create so many more clients for you."

Or...

"Start an online business, you will be able to easily find people, make sales and start chasing your passions. It will supplement your income and allow you to quit your job."

So you started your online business or brought your brick and mortar business online, and the clients and money isn't as easy as people made it sound.

Where do you find these clients? How do you reach them? What is the best way to approach them? How do you start multiplying your sales?

I am going to show you some of those strategies on how to get clients, where to find them, the best ways to reach out and how to think in order to get the sale (and more than one sale).

Know Who Your Clients Are

The first step you need to take when trying to find clients online, is to figure out who exactly they are.

What do they like? What other interests do they have? What industries are directly related to yours?

For example if you run a music business, or are a rap artist, your clients or listeners might also have interests in the footwear or fashion.

The importance of knowing who your audience is and what their interests is, is that this will make it easier to both find these people, have a higher conversion rate for your products or services and just get you more sales of your product or service.

It also helps you target your ads, if you are running ads on Facebook or social media, so that only the people tat want to buy your product and have interests in your area will be targeted.

Knowing other interests of these people help, with both ad targeting and reaching out to people through social media, because your product or service will get in front of different people who aren't already seeing  a ton of ads for similar products.

Say you have a music app and your are trying to get people to download and join your app, maybe instead of targeting ads towards people with general interests of music (like everyone else would do), try targeting people with fashion and interests in street wear brands.

When you do this you get in front of people who aren't already seeing a million of ads for similar products, they get your ads in front of people who are more open to clicking on your ads because they are different than what they usually see.

Another good tip for this is to target people who have already bought something in that industry, such as target a brand in your industry, because these people are already spending money in that niche, what is stopping them from buying more?

Where To Find These People

So where exactly do you find these people then?

Well I am going to go over three ways I find super effective to find potential clients based on their interests. These are some of my favorite and some of the best that work for me at this moment in time!

The first is going to be just through targeting ads on Facebook and Instagram (the two platforms where you are getting the most bang for your buck). This allows you to put to use the strategies that I explained for targeting above and get your product or service ads in front of people that are more willing to buy it.

Target people with different interests, while targeting some general interests is important, target smaller niche interests and other interests that people in your niche have. Also start targeting people who have already "broken the ice" and bought something i your niche. These are the people that are likely going to buy more.

The next strategy is an Instagram strategy to reach out through the direct messages to find potential clients you believe you could help. I will go over the strategy of what to say in the direct message later in this blog, but for now I am going to show you where to find the people.

The first way to find these people is to go on the top influencers on Instagram and start going to the profiles of their followers and more importantly the people that are liking and commenting on their pictures to reach out in a GENUINE way.

Finally, a great strategy is to just go on online forums, Facebook groups and Reddit pages where people in your niche are talking and just join the conversation and start connecting with people.

How To Reach Out to Them and Get the Sale

Found some people to reach out to online for your product or service, what exactly do you say when you reach out then? 

This is going to be my short guide on how to do that, start with this and then build off it to see what works for you.

And one of the best ways to bet you WON'T get a sale is to create an automated message or a basic message that you send out to everybody. Nobody will relate to this and they will know it was just a basic message you send to everyone so don't even try.

The way to start and reach out to these people is to start with their name and explain a story, how you find them, why you like their content etc.

Don't go for the sale right away, relate to them and create a genuine interest and conversation.

Next, explain a little about what you do and how you can help them. Really explain what you can do for them and the benefits you ca offer their business or life after working with them or using your product.

One of the most effective strategy is to offer your product or service for FREE, yes FREE, for the first few people you reach out to and work with. Why you might ask?

Because you can trade this for feedback, testimonials and to build your network/portfolio. This also works with products as well, as you can trade free products for promotions and feedback!

Finally, after your create this relationship or work for free you can also offer the sale later down the road or in a few conversations. This actually works a lot better than going for the sale right away, unlike what many people think because you have already helped them or provided them value in some way.

The Power of Working for FREE

Why would you work for free or offer free products when you are a business and trying to make money?

Because this is playing the long term game and that is ow you win.

Would you rather sell someone a product or service once or create a relationship with them and sell them products forever?

Easy question, right? Why do people act like they only want the one sale then?

Pushing the sale, creating automated messages that don't convert and ultimately not getting results because they are doing it all wrong!

When you work for free or offer free products then you create a relationship with them, show them what kind of value you can bring and create a life long customer.

You have already helped them in some way then if they like your product or service so then you can up sell them on the back end after you have shown the benefits and they see for themselves.

Even if you don't up sell them, you can get testimonials and build your relationships and portfolios for very cheap! This way if people ask for examples of your work, you can show them the results you have gotten with these other people in the past.

My Story on Instagram

Lots of failure and some winning, pretty much sums up every persons journey of entrepreneurship because you are going to fail a hell of a lot more then you are going to win.

But, funny thing is you only have to be right and win once to gain momentum and start finding success!

Tat is what is wrong with everyone's thinking right now, they assume if they fail then it must not be for them and quit. When i reality, they just have to enjoy the journey and accept the process of success.

That is where I am right now. On the journey, just starting the journey.

I am no "hot shot" Instagram influencer, just a college kid who has started to grow a small- medium following in his niche across a few accounts and have learned a hell of a lot about what works and what doesn't work.

I started with one page, @profitingtools, where I learned a variety of lessons trying to grow it, through good and bad strategies, for the first few years and saw some, but not a ton of growth. 

I tried different strategies until some started to work, but even to this day nothing works forever so I am constantly adapting.

Instagram Pages

Currently I am running the Instagram pages listed below, go give them a follow if you would like! These are not the pages that I help grow, rather the ones I use to test strategies and grow my own presence!

The first, my main page, is @profitingtools, and that is where I document my journey, offer more personal content from strategies to mindsets, habits, social media tips, etc throw it a follow if you would like!

Next, we have the smallest of my test accounts, @rules2riches, where I focus on putting out valuable rules to your success, turning the traditional quotes pages on their heads because there are so many of those pages. 

After that, @wealthyunion is my mindsets around wealth page and how to create your financial dreams, from strategies to tips and habits, that is the goal of @wealthyunion.

Finally, we have the largest of the pages I use to test on and that is @entrepreneur_motion and that is where I focus on the mindset around success, how to craft that mindset, grow and just habits you need for the entrepreneurs journey.

Some Strategies I Use to Grow on Instagram

This is just going to be a taste of what I have learned and what I teach businesses to do so take this FREE information and go take action on it, you won't regret this.

​The first thing I am going to recommend you doing is not so much a strategy but just something you should do on your page to make your life and the next strategy a little easier.

That is to follow ONLY people in your niche, large and small accounts, get a wide variety but just follow people in your niche and some accounts within your personal passions to get a personal side of the page as well.

This is where the next strategy comes in... start engaging and being part of the community.

That is how social media was made to be used, as part of a community, so start to act like that and join the community. This is one of the mindsets that is killing accounts left and right today, people are just throwing up content and assuming people care about their content when they aren't part of the community. Guess what? These accounts are failing because nobody gives a crap about their content because they don't care about you as much as you think they do when you are not part of the community.

Another quick strategy I can give you, more on the business side of social media, is to start reaching out to accounts and working for FREE. Yes, for FREE. 

Reach out to potential customers and start offering your products or work for FREE in exchange of a testimonial and to help build your portfolio if you are going to offer services.

This is not at all what people want to do, because you want to get paid for your work, which is understandable. But, this is the long term game and how you WIN because you will start getting more recognition and build your skills so you are even better and can charge more!

The ONLY Thing You Should Be Focused On In Order to Grow On Social Media

Post MORE content, update your Instagram bio, start Dm-ing people, use engagement groups and use hashtags and you WILL grow on social media.... right?

Well, those kind of work, if you have great content, but they aren't the real way to grow on social media.

Trust me, I tried those for years, with varying degrees of success, none of which really got me any noticeable growth, sadly enough.

But it did help me figure out what REALLY matters when trying to grow on social media and that was to go back to the way social media was intended to be used.

To create a community.

Not to throw up a bunch of content in hopes someone will see and buy from you.

But to create a community based around giving to them without the expectation of getting anything in return. To build a large and connected community.

And how do you do that exactly? By joining the community!

This works because it is how social media was meant to be used, you can just expect people to engage and consume your content if you don't do the same to them. That is not how a community works.

Join the community, give, engage and be consistent in doing so. That's what social media was created for and that is how you WILL GROW on social media!

There Is No ONE Growth Strategy That Works For Everybody

Ever find that growth strategy on YouTube or online and think to yourself "Finally, I have found the one things that will help me grow on Instagram, this has to be it!"

And then two weeks, two months, a year later and you have barely grew and it didn't really help that much?

Yeah, same here.

Why? You may ask.. because there is no "formula" that will work for every account.

Some accounts might grow the best through paid ads, others might grow well through content and others might grow through shout outs.

There is no "right way" to grow on social media, because just like in life... there is no exact path to get to where you want to go or "right way" to live life.

The one thing I can bet you is that if you use social media the way it was supposed to be used (engage, act as a community, post good content and give more than you expect) then you WILL grow.

Except This ONE Growth "Strategy"

As talked about above, this strategy embodies how social media was made to be used and that is why it works so well. What is this strategy you might ask?

Engagement in your niche and community.

Well you might be saying "Taylor I already know I have to engage in the community..."

Well if you were doing it right, you wouldn't be complaining, but rather agreeing with what I was saying because you would know how powerful of a practice it is!

What is the right way to use this strategy then?

Well, try out what works for you, but here is what I found to work best for my accounts!

​I first make sure to engage on the comments on my profile with good replies.

Then, since I am only following a variety of large and small accounts in my niche, I can easily go down the timeline and engage on their posts... I highly recommend you doing the same!

Next I go to ten hashtags in my niche and engage on those as well, on both the most recent posts as well as on the top posts in that hashtag.

Finally, I really focus on engaging on the top influencers in my niche as that is where a lot of eyes will see your comments and hopefully click through to your account!

It's Not Easy and Takes Work

Nope, not easy at all... no part of entrepreneurship or owning your own business is.

So, if you think that you can just jump in and make a lot of money on the side, I suggest you find something else so you don't waste your time.

Everyone is out here looking for entrepreneurship "hacks" when the reality is that there is none and if you think you can just get out of the work you are VERY mistaken!

You have to do the work, and this strategy is no different.

You are going to have to set aside a few hours each day to engage on social media and become part of the community if you want to grow and get the benefits that social media can offer your business.

The more little "hacks" and strategies you try to implement to get quick followers might result in more followers but they won't give a crap about your page and won't engage, so what is the point?

​Spend the time, reap the rewards.... it is that simple in all areas of life!

Why This Strategy Works To Grow On Social Media

Because it isn't a strategy really, plain and simple.

It rather is using social media how it is supposed to be used, as looking at yourself as part of a community rather than a marketer just spitting out content.

It is how social media was made to be used and that is why it works. It's no secret strategy, just something that many people don't realize when they get into the social media game.

Think about your personal Instagram, you post pictures that you know others will enjoy and leave comments so you can respond to comments and feel "cool." So, why do people go into social media for their business thinking anything different? Why would people follow or engage with your content just because you put it out there? Is it even that good? People don't ever care about your business as much as you think that they do!

Also, would you follow an account like your business one on your personal account if you didn't own that page? Is the content offering value and engaging in a way that you would want to follow?

These are both ways people are using social media wrong when they go into business, they are focusing on content more than being a community.

When the community aspect is all that matters. That is what social media was created for and that's how you should attack a strategy to grow on social media.

No matter how many followers you have, if they aren't engaged it really doesn't matter because they won't ever buy from you or click through your links. 

Spend a few hours a day engaging in the community and use social media how it was meant to be used, it will change the game for you.

5 Things To Improve Your Mindset Everyday Without Spending Too Much Time

You aren't going to find success without first changing your mindset and habits.

It's pretty simple because if you could be where you wanted to with the mindset and habits you currently have, don't you think you would already be there?

Exactly.

You know how may times a day you fall into your "bad" habits like watching too much Netflix or playing too much Xbox. Imagine if you could create the habits that would help you push towards your goals when you have that extra downtime during the day!

Crazy right?

Well, that is the power of a mindset and what the right mindset can do for you.

That is the purpose of this article. To first help you improve your mindset and then help you create habits of productivity and kill those bad habits.

Here is how you can do just that and start getting the results you want in life...

The Importance of A Growth Mindset

What exactly is a growth mindset you ask?

A growth mindset means you have the mindset to think you can always improve and there is always ways to improve.

You believe that you are never done learning and you can always improve in some areas.

You always see the opportunity to grow.

If you don't have a growth mindset you are going to believe that you are as good as you are going to get in areas of your life, even if that means you stay at the beginner level, because you believe there is no way to get better.

The ways that not having a growth mindset can hurt you is by limiting your opportunities, not letting you take opportunities because you don't think you are good enough, not letting you grow and learn the strategies to make you better at what you do and most importantly, not letting you reach your potential.

How To Create A Growth Mindset

Now you may be wondering how to develop this mindset that we call a growth mindset, I will just touch on that right here and create a blog post on it in the future but here are my tips.

How to create a growth mindset:

#1: Start looking at failure as a way to learn, something that has to happen before you are great at what you do. This is just another step in the journey... fail and then move on, embrace it and don't make the same mistake twice.

#2: Become more self aware, this is one of the best things and skills you can learn in life. It allows you to step back and see what you are struggling with and WHY you are struggling with it. Self awareness allows you to see past the bias and not blame others for your failure.

#3: Take responsibility for results, even if it is not your fault. This will make you both happier and more productive because instead of looking for people to blame you will start to look for answers and solutions to problems, helping you both learn and push forward at the same time. 

#4: Start loving to learn, each ad everyday, make it a new habit like you would watching a new TV show. Pick up that book for an hour everyday, start learning to love the process of learning and bettering yourself. Hell, even listen to podcasts like The School of Greatness or the Tai Lopez Show in the car or in the gym!

#5: Accept the challenges and learn to love the process of success. Start going head first into what scares you and what challenges you, it is never going to get easier.. you are just going to have different challenges. Learn to love the process and you will find results, you won't have to find motivation because the process is all you need. 

Simple Mindset Strategies

There a re a few mindset strategies that I live by and can do so much for not only your mindset but also your mental health, as I have dealt with mild depression in the past.

The first thing that will help you start the day in the right mindset is to write down 5 things you are grateful for either right when you wake up or right before you go to bed. This helps you get thinking in the positive mindset right away ad not focusing on whats wrong in your life ASAP in the morning. 

Going along with that one, just start to look at things more positive and you will start to be happier and start to find more opportunities in everything that you do.

Number three, start to not spend the first hour of your day on electronics, on your phone or watching TV. This will help you create your own thoughts, your own opportunities and not get all your thoughts drowned out by the opinions of others.

Finally, start to take a walk or do something you enjoy outdoors for an hour a day. This will help you step outside the comfort zone of your home. This has made a huge impact on my happiness and productivity as it gives you a small break, gets you fresh air/ sunlight and helps you refocus your mind and create new ideas.

Plan Your Days

One of the most powerful things you can do is to plan out your day by how important each task is. Pick 5 tasks that you need to do, and that are not already habits, and order them in order of how important they are going to be in your day to get closer towards your goals.

Then block them into time chunks each day so you don't waste time thinking about what you should do next, you know exactly what needs to be done in order to make progress.

This also helps to maximize your time each day if you don't have much free time to work on your business or passions and helps you feel more in control of your life.

The more in control you feel the more likely you are to take on new opportunities and more results you are going to start to see in your life. Looking for more results, like I'm sure we all are, try doing his and get more in control of your days.

Limit Distractions At Important Times of The Day

The key to success and still having balance in your life, if that is what you strive for, is to block out times of the day to kill your distractions and get to work.

Turn your phone off, turn the TV off and focus all your energy on one task at a time. Even two productive tasks at the same time could be a distraction because you aren't as focused as you could be.

When you get the the state of "flow" during these times you are focusing all your attention on this one thing and not worried about what you are going to do tonight or what you are going to eat.

This helps you create better content, create better products and services and get more done in a short period of time. If you get distracted easily then you are going to lose the momentum you gained on that project and have to try and get it back when you return to the task. 

How To Kill Your Bad Habits and Create Growth Habits

Have bad habits and not getting much done?

Well these are the strategies that I used in order to create more of a growth midset and kill those bad habits.

First off, whenever I started to get distracted or had some down time where I would usually start doing bad habits like watching YouTube for hours, I would do something productive like respond to comments on social media or read a book.

This was hard at first but it gets easier and you start to enjoy the productivity you feel doing these other things more than the enjoyment of watching hours of TV everyday.

Also, I had a problems with wanting to respond to everything on Snapchat and look at Instagram a couple times an hour which was a bad habit so I decided to delete them and then redownload them everyday when I was done with my 5 productive tasks for the day! This was a game changer as I got much more done in a shorter period of time.

How To Change Your Mindset

Wodnering what aspect of your mindset to change?

Well, this is going to be different for every person, you have to figure out what YOU have to do.

Did you enter entrepreneurship for the lifestyle? Maybe you should reassess if this is the right path for you.

Are you not loving what you do? Maybe you need to find something you do.

Chasing the money a little too much? Maybe you should start to enjoy the process a little more.

That is the key, shift your mindset towards work and accepting that you are going to to be putting in log hours so why not be doing what you love.

Love the struggle and the process everyday and that is where you are going to become happier on your path to entrepreneurship.

Another major thing you have to get over if you want "real results" in entrepreneurship is that you have to focus on solving problems rather than trying to make so may sales.

When you solve problems you will get rewarded and the favor will be returned through wealth.

If you focus on selling you likely aren't going to sell much because you aren't solving a problem.

How This 'Secret' of Entrepreneurship Will Help You get Results

When you put in the work, you get more results.

It is just bound to happen, you know. The more sales calls you make, the more times you reach out , the more whatever you do... you are just bound to get results thanks to the law of large numbers!

Funny how that works right?

While everyone is out here looking for the secret, start taking more action, putting in more work, and get ahead of them while you have the opportunity!

It will work, when you love what you do, put int he work and love the process. You just set yourself up for success then!

What Platform to Leverage To Start Making Money On Social Media

The Platforms for People Trying To Get Their Services Out There

Do you have services you can offer, skills you have or ways you can help people but don't have the following on social media yet to make money from these services that way?

This was a problem for me when my accounts were smaller because you have a solid audience but just not big enough to support a life for yourself. 

You are looking for exposure and people who need your services but don't know where to find them.

There are platforms out there, much like Patreon, that help connect people who have services and skills like you, to the people who need help in those areas.

This is a good way to not only make some extra money on the side, but also to build your skill set and get some smaller jobs under your belt so that you can work your way up to large projects.

​The two platforms I recommend for this are called Freelancer.com and Fiverr.com as those are the two that I found work the best to connect with those who need your help.

These two platforms allow you to put up your services, skills, etc and then go out and find people that are looking for help.

Fiverr is a little more about letting people find you, while Freelancer allows you to "bid" on projects and compete for them with other people in your skillsets!

What To Realize Before You Start Making Money On Social Media

Before you start to reach out to influencers, brands or people in order to offer your products or services, on either the platforms I listed above or even on social media, there are a few things that you are going to have to know in order to actually start getting people to actually pay you for your products or skills.

The first thing you are going to have to realize is what you are ACTUALLY good at, not what you think you are good at, but what you actually have skills in.

Best way to do that?

Either to ask those around you what you are best at or start taking on some projects for FREE and see the reactions from people on how much your work helped them.

Or if it's more art or writing that you have skills in, start writing posts or creating art and reaching out for opinions like "would you buy this?" or "how could this be improved?"

After you realize what your skills are, realize that there are thousands of people out there with the skill set most likely, just being realistic, so what is making you stand out from the rest?

Why are you better than the others, what can YOU do better or what can you do to show that you are different from the rest. Whether it's a more personalized service or a better customer experience.

What are you going to do to stand out from the crowd?

Then, don't just say you are standing out in ______ way but actually do what you say you are going to do! If you promote "the best customer service" and then people come and you have bad customer service, then they are going to tell their friends and it is going to ruin your image.

Finally, the most important thing you are going to have to figure out is your worth. Too many people think they are either worth too much and don't take on jobs that will help build their resume or think that their social media isn't worth enough and under charge for services.

​The best way to find your worth is to start doing small jobs, slowly charging more and then every time you reach out after that you can have an example of what you were paid in the past.

Another way, equally as good, is to do some FREE work for a company and then ask what they would pay in the future and if you work with them again then you have a base price that you can again show people when they ask how much you charge.

How To Start Reaching Out On Social Media To Make Money

So you are ready to reach out and offer people your products or services through social media or through other platforms?

Where do you start, what do you say and how do find these people?

The first thing to realize is what you are trying to sell and why you are reaching out.

If you reach out to someone without a goal then it's just wasting both people's time. Know why you are reaching out and have ONE focus for reaching out each time.

Next, you are going to need to know who you are going to reach out to and why.

Know your target person, brand, etc that you want and where to find them.

If it is a brand, maybe find their Instagram and then go to the similar brands they are following to find 100 more similar brands to reach out to.

On Freelancer, they make it easy to find your target client because they give you keywords to filter and then give you a list of projects that fit that criteria. Then you can bid on small and large projects in your skill sets and start growing your portfolio.

Now the most important thing to realize, what to actually say when you reach out...

The key here is going to be not just selling when you reach out but focusing on them or the brand and how you can help them. Don't just try and sell and say what YOU have, how will it help THEM?

A good template to start and then start testing other things around like what works, is as follows:
-Start with who you are, your story, etc.
-Go into why you like their page, brand, them and what you have enjoyed about them in the past.
-Explain your skills, past projects and why you reached out.
-Explain how you can HELP THEM.. don't just ask for the sale, explain how you can help them.

Use this template for reaching out for free and paid work and then build off of this to create a more advanced script to use when reaching out!
Just one more thing at the end of this blog, you have to realize that you start small. The big projects, money, promotions, etc don't come right away.

People don't realize that. You have to respect the journey, start small with free and low paying work, products and services until you can build your portfolio and start charging more.
