A LOT of people, actually most people and new entrepreneurs, start businesses on the side and in their free time, wen they aren't at work or school.
For anyone that is new here, my name is Taylor and I am currently in college and running Profiting Tools at the moment, where I am helping people and business start, grow and start making money through Instagram.
The focus of this article is going to be around college, as that is the point of life I am in, but it can also apply to anyone in school, in work or just short of time that are looking to start a business or even take the side hustle they have to the next level!
The first thing to realize before reading this article is that there is always time to chase your passions, it is just about wasting less time and changing your priorities.
Habits and How They Can Help You Build Your Business
Without a lot of time, you are going to have to maximize all of your time that you aren't at work or in class.
Whether that is in the morning, in the afternoon where you don't have class or when you get home from your 9-5 job and have from 7pm-2am to work on your passions.
How do you maximize your time and get rid of your distractions?
Through habits, that is how.
If you don't have the right habits you are just going to fall back to the bad habits during this free time and not be able to maximize the little time you have already.
If you have the habits of playing Fortnite on Xbox or scrolling through Instagram for hours every night and try and do those as well as chase your passions, it WON'T WORK.
Straight up, not going to work.
Entrepreneurship is hard and going to take A LOT of your time so you are going to have to give up your habits and focus on creating new ones.
Ready to start focusing on creating those new habits?
Here are two ideas:
-Delete the social media platform from your phone that keeps distracting you and then redownload it when you get everything done that you need to get done.
-Every time you start to think about falling back into your old habits try dong something productive. Do this until productivity is the habits and you kill the Xbox habit.
Organizing Your Time Everyday
You gotta figure out when your free time is and the plan that time out.
Create a list of the 5 things, that you don't already do every day, but the things that will get you closer to your goals and then block out your free time in order to get those done.
Not more than 5 becasue then you won't be able to go all in on everything and not less than 5 because then you won't maximize your time.
These things have to be things like reaching out to ______ number of businesses to work with or emailing _______ number of customers. Anything that actually gets you closer to your goals, that is what these 5 things should be.
So, determine your free time and then create 30 min-1 hour blocks of time to do each of these.
Also, block out time for working out, eating right and learning because you have to treat the body and mind right and it will translate into success in other areas of your life.
This 5 item list is known as the powerlist and I learned it on the MFCEO Project Podcast with Andy Frisella and I HIGHLY recommend you guys check it out as well!
What To Focus On
When you only have so much time in the day you aren't going to be able to put equal energy into everything, so what should you put your energy into in order to get the best results.
The first, and most important thing, that you need to be focusing on is social media.
Because the game of business is changing, everything is revolving around social media, views and attention. So, this is the basis of many businesses out there right now.
Attention is like the oxygen of your business, without it you won't get customers, won't make sales and won't be making any money. Social media is how you get that attention.
You can create content for FREE and start building an audience that trusts you and start gaining traction. It allows you to reach people that you wouldn't have been able to reach before and the most important thing that it helps you do is to create a community that trusts and will buy from you.
On social media you want to be focusing your time on content, community and marketing.
On the side of content you want to focus on creating content of value for people. Whether that be through Instagram posts, Facebook videos, Snapchat stories, etc. Create content that entertains people , teaches them, give your point of view, or even better all three! It's called Edutainment!
To create your community you want to be focused on engaging not only through the comments on your posts but also start liking and commenting your thoughts and opinions on things in the community. Whether that be through scrolling through the hashtags in your niche or if it's commenting on larger accounts in your niche. Be part of the community.
Marketing is another area you are going to want to focus your time and energy on whether that be through social media or through promoting through a blog like this.
Most of your marketing dollars are going to be put to use the best on social media so spend your focus on there. But there are other areas of marketing to focus on as well such as creating landing pages, blogging, guest posting and working with other people, creating campaigns, funnels, etc.
Figure out what your goals are and then take the actions and do what needs to be done in order to reach those through marketing.
If you want to sell more products, maybe create a funnel starting with free content and then market it to people who have already read the article through Facebook ads. Then they will land on a landing page and support you through purchasing.
The final area where you should focus your limited time in is going to be sales.
You can create a base for your sales off of social media but you can also look at options such as emails, etc.
Sales is important because you can market all you ant but if you can't create that sales page that sells or if you can't reach out and make the sales then you won't find success.
You want to find out your goals through sales and then attack it. Figure if you want to reach out to brands in order to create content for them, reach out for paid promotion or even just reach out in order to sell your services.
You can leverage the direct messages on social media platforms to create these sales as well as through emails.
Those are the three areas you need to focus on as an entrepreneur when you are in school, have a job or just have limited time!
Set Aside Time To Learn and Read
As I talked about above you want to also focus on your body and your brain as success in those areas directly translate to your success in other areas such as your business.
Set aside time to learn through podcasts and reading, those are the two most important.
Read for an hour in the morning or at night, while you do cardio, at lunch or whenever you get some free time. Read business books, life books, success stories, online articles in your niche, etc. Gain a good amount of knowledge in a wide variety of areas.
You also should be focusing on learning through podcasts. As much as I love music, you have to cut back the amount you listen to throughout the day and make room for some podcasts.
Some great times I found to listen to podcasts are in the gym and in the car.
Because that when you can focus the most and get the most out of the podcasts compared to if you were listening while you work then you might not be able to get the takeaway you need to from the podcast.
So, you want to start listening to podcasts but don't now where to start?
Here are some of my favorite podcasts and are a great base to start off from and you can add to the list from here:
-The MFCEO Project Podcast
-The Gary Vee Audio Experience
-The Cardone Zone
-The School of Greatness
-The Tai Lopez Show
Enjoy the Journey
One of the most important things that I have learned through my years as a young entrepreneur in high school and college would be to accept the journey.
I ave tried focusing on money and buying things but I just didn't get any results and then got frustrated and lost motivation.
Instead focus on the journey and enjoying the process and not the rewards, that is when you start to get the real results. That is when I started to like what I did more, create better habits and start getting better results.
I also learned to focus on solving problems and start helping people. I actually started making more money doing that than I was focused on making money.
Find a real problem, figure out how to solve it and then leverage that.
Loved this lesson and it has changed my life so I just have to add it at the end!:)

You know what I'm talking about, all of those "make $_______ in _____ weeks" and so on.
From big social media influencers like Tai Lopez promoting their programs as well, there are so many things out there that sound like scams from the outside. But are they really?
Short answer to that question is NO.
While they might not work in the short period of time that they advertise but it is possible to make the programs work if YOU put in the work and make them work!
It comes down to YOU, that is the factor for everything you do.
You can learn everything you need but if YOU don't actually take action on what you learn you will never get anywhere.
Many people get stuck in this trap of learning and learning and learning, looking for that "secret thing" that they need before they can get started.
Well that "secret to success" is action and you are never going to take action if you just learn and don't do anything with that information.
This is the biggest thing that I see with new "entrepreneurs" with them learning and thinking that that is what "taking action" is.
That is NOT TRUE. Taking action is doing things that actually move you down the path to success and while learning is important, it doesn't actually MOVE you down that path!
The Thinking Around Paying For Education
It is screwed up how people are thinking these days.
They will pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for a degree that doesn't teach them much and they probably don't really need to get the job they want (except for doctors and lawyers).
But the minute they have to pay for an online course from someone who has ACTUALLY found success in the industry you are curious in, they call it a scam and won't pay $200 to learn more then they could by spending $2,000 in college!
Why? Im actually curious.
The professors at college, especially for entrepreneurs and business majors, unless you are at a prestigious school, have NOT gotten as much experience in the industry as some people have.
You can learn and then actually start taking action on courses from people like Tai Lopez for a couple hundred dollars, that give you the information you need to make hundreds of thousands or even millions.
But college just gives you the information to learn what will make you $50,000-$100,000 a year, for 10x the cost.
And the online one is the scam? I think NOT.
These courses have information and strategies that you can actually put to use ASAP to start making money while we just sit in class paying thousands to read out of a book what we could learn on Google.
It is messed up, I'm in college and I would know.
I can find everything I am paying thousands of dollars for online for FREE or for half or less of the cost!
The Thing That Holds People Back In These Programs
The thing that holds everyone back when they buy these programs is not the program but THEM.
Yes, that is right... they just assume that they are just going to get the secret strategy that will make them money without havig to work.
Think about it, if you go to college and get a degree but don't do anything with it, or if you get a gym membership and don't go and don't lose weights, is it the college or gyms fault?
It is your fault.
But if people buy an online program and don't put in the work, then they complain that it was a scam when in reality they were just lazy as hell.
Think of these programs the same way you would with a degree, you have to put in the work to get results. These are not programs to help you not have to work at all.
The reality of entrepreneurship or doing something on your own is that you are actually going to have to work MORE than you would with an average job.
Yes, that is right, it is not the easy way out... it is actually HARDER than getting a normal job.
Because with a normal job you get paid no matter what. Entrepreneurship is not that way.
That is the problem with these programs. People buy them wanting to make quick cash or something when that's not what they are meant for.
They are meant for the people that want to put in the work becasue they are going to play the long term game.
When people take the information and put in the work these programs actually work!
It is up to YOU to get those results though.
How To Make These Online Programs Work
PUT IN THE WORK.
As simple as that.
Don't fall for the trap of thinking you are going to get results just by buying the program or guide.
Get in the mindset that you won't get the results it shows if you aren't willing to work. YOU have to make it work. Nobody can do that for you.
They are giving you everything you need in these courses to actually make money but it is up to YOU to decide if you really want it and are willing to put in the work or if that path just is't for you ad you like the structure or an average job.
These are essentially "shortcuts," but not shortcuts in the way you are thinking they are.
They give you information and teach you lessons that would have taken you years to learn on your own but it doesn't mean they are going to be less work than an average job.
They are two different things and they shouldn't be confused.
These programs actually work really well if YOU make them work. Get in that mindset and you will win.

Sick of searching the web for hours looking for that new strategy on Instagram to try because your current ones aren't working?
Maybe it's because you are using old strategies or even just because they aren't being executed correctly.
No strategy lasts forever, eventually too many people are going to be using it and it's going to kill the effectiveness of it.
Much like what happened to email marketing. Marketers ruined it.
People open far less emails now and people are reacting less to spammy ads and strategies that don't work on Instagram.
You used to be able to just post some pictures and a few hashtags and people would find you.
Hell, a TON of people would find you when you used to do this.
Well, now the market is flooded with thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of accounts just like yours.
The competition is tough and that means you have to be even tougher... it is time to adapt and survive.
My Instagram History
I have been testing strategies and growing accounts for god knows how long, close to 3 years maybe now..
So, I have see a good amount of strategies, both good and bad, come and go from the platform.
Everything from the long term strategies to like bots and comment bots for Instagram that actually worked.
I have not only seen those strategies, I have also tested them... with varied results depending on the strategy, on all four of my Instagram accounts... @profitingtools @wealthyunion @entrepreneur_motion @rules2riches.
(feel free to check them out if you really want to, they are pretty dope)
I have seen what works and what doesn't over the last couple of years and it is the first half of a new year so I thought I would breakdown some of the best strategies that I have seen working this year to help people grow their Instagram accounts.
**Note that all these strategies can work when YOU put in the time but they won't work if you just expect to sit around and watch the followers roll in.**
The Top 5 Organic Instagram Growth Strategies of 2018
The first strategy I have seen work really well on all of my accounts is to start engaging in your niche and with your community for about a half hour before you post.
This can include going on larger accounts in your niche and leaving your thoughts, a funny comment to entertain people or even so knowledge!
Do this for about a half hour before you post your post so that you have people coming to your account and they will help give your new post some traction in the community to help it gain more impressions.
The more attention and engagement your post gets early on like this the more likely it will end up on the explore page or the top posts in each hashtag! Getting you even more engagement and followers.
The second strategy is similar to the first one but just throughout the day. Stay engaged on the new posts and the top posts in your niche throughout the day and get that constant stream of people seeing and following your account throughout the day!
To do this you can go to larger pages in your niche and influencers and do the same thing you were ding above... engage on their page by entertaining, informing or providing your thoughts!
You can also comment the same type of comments on the top posts in popular hashtags in your niche and on the most recent posts in those hashtags!
The third strategy is more of one to both make engagement easier and one that will clean up your profile a bit... and that is to make sure you are only following accounts within your niche.
Large accounts and small accounts, have a variety but then if people look at your following they will know exactly what your page is about.
Also, it helps make your profile look cleaner when you are following less people and it makes engagement easier because then your news feed isn't full of random posts. Rather, it is full of posts in your account that you can engage with!
Strategy number fourrrrrrr!!! A somewhat well know strategy but many people either don't do it enough or do it wrong and that is giveaways.
When people try and do giveaways, they try to give away either random things that don't relate to their page or they give away something so small that nobody gives a fuck. Don't do either of those...
Give away something (fairly often) that people WANT and will follow the steps to get.
For example, people would LOVE FREE marketing so why not run a free shout out contest to help them grow their page if they win?
If they don't care or the prize is too small then they won't engage. Simple as that.
The final strategy is going to leverage your other platforms like email, Facebook, Twitter, etc to drive people over to your page!
The best way to do this is going to be through exclusive content that is only available on your Instagram page.
Post about the exclusive content and what they can get by following your Instagram on your other social media accounts/ platforms!.
Just like with the giveaways, you have to make this content good enough to MAKE people want to come check it out. They won't just come over and follow you if you have trash content!
All of these strategies WILL work when YOU put in the work too.. Just like everything in life, it won't work unless you make it work!
As usual, thanks for all the support guys and I look forward to sharing more social media content with you all in the future!
Signing off from the dorm!
"Post more and get more followers."
"You will get followers through hashtags."
"These are the most engaged followers you will get."
These couldn't be more False. Well sort of.
So the answer to the question above is KINDA... why though?
Well they work to a certain extent but they definitely won't get you the results you are looking for or the results you need for sustained growth or to create a powerful community on social media.
You want to create a community that will open up opportunities for you in the future, right? Whether that is through money, sales, trust, growth, brand deals, support... whatever it may be. That is the goal you should have if you don't have it.
So to do that you need followers that both engage and trust you. How exactly do you get that? Through ENGAGEMENT, that is how.
Why These Social Media Growth Strategies Don't Really Work
I'm going to be honest with you, they CAN work... but not on their own.
Actually, they work REALLY well when you combine them with strong engagement in your community.
But for the people that think they can just setup an account, throw up some random posts with generic hashtags and generic captions.... thinking you are going to grow to a HUGE page.
YOU ARE WRONG.
Here's why: first, you didn't give people a reason to follow you (they don't know you, you aren't providing value through entertainment or education) so why would they follow you? And second... because nobody cares as much about you as you think they do.
Sorry to say it but it is true. You have to convince them and give them a reason to trust and follow you.
Make them know your name.
Here's some proof, on my accounts of 18,000 and 22,000 Instagram followers I took a days break from the usual content and threw up some generic content, with small captions and didn't engage in the community for a few days and the response to the posts were weak as you can see in the video below.
You have to engage in the community, make your name and your page known and start to give people a reason to follow you. That is how you start to build their trust and grow you page to these large levels.
You can't just post and call it a day, social media is based around communities so act like you would in a community.
What Strategies Work On Social Media Then?
Well, giving them a reason to follow is what works... you can do that a few different ways: Through entertaining them, through educating them in your niche, by doing both (ideally) or just offering them some kind of value!
So, decide what that is going to be... look at your personality, are you outgoing or even comfortable with videos for entertainment?
If not, maybe focus a little more on the educational side!
So next... obviously content is king. I was not destroying content above saying how it is not important, I was just saying it doesn't work on its own on social media anymore because of the sheer number of quality content being posted on the daily.
So, figure out how you are going to stand out from the competition... how are you going to make your page different.. Ideally this would be through adding your personality ad interests to it (and your humor)!
Then, don't forget to add relevant hashtags (up to 30 on a separate comment on your posts... not in the caption) because these are also still important...
Well that is enough of me telling you what you already know, time for the good stuff!
Alright, the major thing you want to focus on is engaging in your community! Not just dabbling but actually gong all in and 10x your engagement in the community and in your niche.
This is going to get your name seen, increase the eyes on your page, build trust by showing you know what you are talking about, and just get that engaged following on social media that you are looking for!
So here is step by step on how you can improve your social media engagement and increase the engagement in your community!
Step 1: Try be only following accounts (large and small) in your niche/ some based around your interests... get rid of all the accounts you are just randomly following. This will help clean up your time line and make it easier to engage.
Step 2: Go to some top hashtags in your niche and Follow them, yes you can follow hashtags now on Instagram at least! This will help good posts from those hashtags pop into your time line and make it easier for you to engage again.
Step 3: START ENGAGING! The first place to start is on the larger accounts in your niche. Make sure you are leaving genuine, thought provoking comments on their posts (and all the posts that you leave comments on). This helps get your name noticed and recognized in the industry if you are on all the big pages posts.
Step 4: Engage on your timeline, this one is easy becasue you don't have to search or anything... just start scrolling down your time line and leaving GOOD comments on posts that you enjoy or can relate to.
Step 5: Engage in your niche. Do this by going to the top 10 hashtags in your niche and leaving GOOD comments on the top 9 posts in each hashtag! Also, pick a few hashtags and just go down the recent posts and leave comments on what grabs your attention, entertains you, things you can relate to, etc.
Step 6: When more people start engaging on your posts, try to respond to their comments within an hour or two!
The key to all of these is going to be leaving GOOD comments that stand out, offer value and aren't boring. DON'T just write "Great post" or "love this" that is stupid and a waste of a comment... might as well not have even left the comment.
Thanks for the support as usual guys and if you wanna go show some love over on the Instagram or Snapchat, the username is @profitingtools for both of those!
Trying to totally reshift your focus in life?
Not seeing results even though you are doing everything that you think you should be doing?
Well, let me tell you I was in the same boat and it fucking sucked.
Years "grinding" without being able to see a clear path or any results what so ever.
That is when I had to step back and figure out what was actually going on because obvisously one of the strategies I was trying should have worked after trying thousands of them with absolutely no results.
That was when I turned to myself and started to look inside me.
There was no other reason why these things wouldn't have been working other than one simple thing... and that was ME.
MY HABITS, MY DAILY ROUTINE, MY ACTIONS and MY LIFE.
That was what was holding me back, not some strategy that I thought would change everything in a few weeks.
Not seeing any results and been working for a while? Maybe it's time to dive in and take a look at YOU.
Why the Answer is To Look Inside Yourself and Not To Shift Strategies....
You can try as many strategies as you want then come back to this post and prove me wrong, but most likely you are going to come back looking for answers.
Many of the strategies you have tried or are going to try most likely WILL work.
Yes, that is right. I said they WILL work... that's because with the right mindset and the correct execution, most strategies out there work.
That is, if you have the right mindset and accept change in your life. Which is something many can't do, and something I couldn't do.
Which is why we were getting/ some are getting no results.
Because we have't yet accepted the fact that nothing can change in our lives if we don't change with it.
You want to make more money or live the lifestyle of your dreams? Obviously you are going to have to make changes because if you didn't you would already be living that life.
There is obviously some habits that are holding you back in some areas of your life that are affecting other areas and just causing a huge spiral of no results.
Want change? You have to change...
Why do you think people move across the country to chase their dreams? Because they needed change, needed to meet new people, needed a new city, needed connections and those can't happen sitting stagnant in the city you grew up in.
A new life requires new habits, the old ones of spending 8 hours a day on Xbox or watching TV just aren't going to cut it.
You are either going to go all in or you aren't.
Simple as that and that is what determines your results. Don't you think if you had the right habits you would be to where you wanted to be right now?
How To Turn Your Life Around Starting NOW
So you are ready to go all in?
Good, here is where to start:
Boom, step one: Health ad fitness... easy place to start because thy are easy to control. Determine what level you are at and 10x that. Don't have a gym membership? Go get one tomorrow it will change your life, going daily changed mine.
That was one of the first big changes I made. Next was health.
Trust me its a lot easier to eat healthy than you think, and it can actually be fun at the same time too.. that was the next transition I made because I never had energy and just felt like shit.
Felt like my life was a mess and when I started to count calories, fats, carbs and protein it gave me some structure that I needed.
Also, start to take your education more seriously.. learn about your niche, you have to everyday if you ant to be great... don't just dabble but go all in and figure out how to use the information you learn each day.
This is a major difference maker because it will give you more confidence and even if it is just going all in at school (if that's your thing).. do that.
The most important... YOUR HABITS.
Do a deep dive of your habits and what you do each and every day and why.
What is your go-to habit when you are bored?
What do you automatically do in your free time?
Are these productive or harmful habits?
What other bad habits do you have that you want to get rid of?
Figure that out and start eliminating them one habit at a time until you have purpose behind everything you do each day. That is the most powerful feeling and I can't even explain it.
A great way to change a habit, that I found, was to do something productive every time you thought about that habit or found yourself with some free time where you would usually do that habit.
Finally, just ll the random shit in your life that you need to move on from... big or small.
Whether you need a new phone to be more productive, buy some new clothes to give you a new feeling, move cities, change friends, quit smoking, quit drinking, whatever it is... CHANGE, that is when the results come.
Finally, the most important thing on your journey of turning your life around here..
Figure out who you WANT TO BE, where you want to be in life, how you want to think, how your ideal day would be... and then start to ACT that way in your everyday life.
It will help you build confidence, take more action and actually think about each thing you do every day to see if it is actually helping you get closer to that life.
It puts you in the perspective of your future self and you really can't beat that.
Thanks for the support guys and hope you enjoyed another blog!
Would love to see some support on the snap (profitingtools) and Instagram @profitingtools if you want to see any more!
Sitting there scrolling through motivational posts on Instagram thinking "Why the fuck do these don't work?"
Well, don't worry because I was in the same boat sitting there for hours trying to find some sort of motivation.
Watching YouTube videos, speeches, reading books, looking at posts, thinking... just trying to find ANY sort of motivation to get me to take some action towards my goals.
Guess where that got me?
YUPPPP... years of my life wasted and getting nowhere because I was trying to find motivation or trying to get the right plan. Such a waste of time.
So, I decided to take a step back because obviously this "motivation" shit wasn't working. I needed to find out what actually works.
The Truth About Motivation
No matter ho many books you read, how many damn videos you watch or posts you look at... motivation is just not sustainable like people think it is.
People assume they are supposed to be motivated 24/7 and the most successful people are always motivated to be doing amazing things.
That is NOT what is happening.
This mindset just gets you buying more books, reading more posts and watching more content in hopes that you will SOON find the motivation you need.
But the reality is that is you follow this route is you will get NOWHERE and just end up settling for where you are or what you have in life.
Thinking that it just wasn't meant for you.
Well, you were really just missing on thing that could have actually gotten you to where you wanted to be... that is the realization that motivation is temporary and your habits and actions control your life.
Motivation is Temporary
Ever notice that little spike of motivation you get after watching one of those speeches from like Gary Vaynerchuk, Eric Thomas or even after listening to Podcasts like The MFCEO Project or Cardone Zone?
Well duh because that is how it is supposed to be.
Motivation will just last a little bit and then fade after a few hours or days.
Because when its comes at the right time in your life it is powerful and can LEAD to change but not totally create change.
It can lead to change in what really matters in your life: your daily routine and habits.
It can give you that little boost you need to reshift your focus and change your habits to be more geared towards success, taking action and learning.
Stop listening to all these podcasts and reading all these books in hopes to find motivation. That is not the way to go about this journey of success.
Instead start focusing more on taking in 75% of educational content that will help you get ahead in your niche and actually get you somewhere in life because you are taking ACTION.
Trying to find motivation is NOT TAKING ACTION it is just tricking yourself into taking action.
Real action is first educating but more importantly putting to use what you learn.
Own Your Day With Habits
Well if motivation isn't the answer... what is?
Habits and your daily routine are the answer.
Right after I stopped looking for motivation and "planning," I started to notice change coming into my life.
I started to see RESULTS.
Isn't that what we all want?!
The answer to that should be YES!
When you take control of your life, starting with one thing it drives your success because soon you are creating these great habits that drive your towards your goals, even on the days where you don't feel like doing ANYTHING.
If you were still on the path to looking for motivation, on the days that you don't feel like doing anything you would resort to Netflix, YouTube or playing Xbox because you don't value time as much.
But when you have the habits set in place, take control of your day, when you don't feel like doing shit you will fall back to your habits, which in this case are going to be more productive and get you farther in life.
This has to be the most clarifying and important thing that I have realized on this journey so far as it has helped me find results and value time more!
Where To Start Building Habits
Well once you start to realize the fact that motivation should only be used to jump start you to take action to change your habits you have to find some places to start...
So where do you start and with what habits do you start with?
Well this is totally going to vary based on the type of person you are and the habits you already have, but there are a few main categories to really look at when you are taking the steps to change your life.
Those categories are fitness, health, passions, education and personal.
For all of these categories the key here is to go all in a don't just dabble.
You don't see results when you dabble.
Start tracking numbers for food and workouts, start taking chunk out of your day to learn. Start tracking everything. JUST DO MORE!
What I Did To Start Building Better Habits and To Regain Control in My Life
What I did was to start with my fitness and health because that was the easiest to start with just for me.
Since I already had a gym at my school and a gym membership at home I just had to start going all in, so that is what I did.
I used to just dabble at the gym but this was different I needed a change.
So I started tracking everything in a journal, timing my breaks, working out at certain times of the day based around when I was eating and just tracking everything to see the results.
Hand in hand with working out, I started to eat right and track every single thing I was eating and why I was eating it, focused on counting calories, fats, carbs and proteins and I started seeing not only physical but this was helping my mental state as well.
A great app I use to do this is called My Fitness Pal, and it makes it super easy to track both foods, exercises and water intake for every day and show you your trends.
Next I moved onto my education category because that was another big one for me that would be an easy change.
Like I talked about above about cutting back the motivational shit and starting to listen to things that will actually get ahead, that's what I did.
I started ready while I did my cardio each day as well as for an hour before bed... both books and articles online around my niche.
I also cut back the music I was listening to to make room for more podcasts, but not just motivational ones but actually ones that help.
Some of my favorite podcasts are The School of Greatness, The Tai Lopez Show, The MFCEO Project and The Cardone Zone.
Next, on a more personal level this is a pretty broad category as it is more based around what you need personally. Do you need to quit some bad habits like YouTube and Xbox like I had to? Or even do you need to start cutting some people off like I also had?
The best way I found to beat these hard to kill habits like YouTube, Xbox, Netflix, Instagram, etc was that every time I started to thing about them or found myself with extra time where I could be doing them I started to do something productive like creating social media posts or reading.
This allowed me ti create new habits and forget about the old ones... but trust me this takes a hell of a long time and I am still working on this!
Another more personal one for me was i wanted a sharper and more clear brain that could think more on the fly, so I started doing word puzzles and brain training apps for 30ish minutes a day to just get my brain active and thinking!
Finally, the most important habit to build and work on is one of chasing your passions This is going to be different for everybody but the best piece of advice I can give here is like what I said about the YouTube and Xbox habits above...
Every time you think about wanting to play more Fortnite or watch more Netflix shows, try and do something productive in your niche to help build the habit of chasing your passions as your go to rather than TV.
This has been one of my favorite blog posts to write so far! Thank you for the constant support guys!!
