Sometimes the answer isn't always external...Maybe you have a solid group of friends, maybe you are looking for a new group of friends or maybe you are just trying to find those people to connect with. Whatever the case may be, this is going to help you. A high percentage of us in America struggle with loneliness, just given the simple fact of what we do on a day to day basis. We sit on our phones, choose to work alone, eat alone and go to the gym alone. While alone time is essential in your day to day life, you do need those strong relationships that you can always count on as well. Some may even say that 3 out of 4 Americans struggle with loneliness in the United States, that is a wild fact considering how connected we seem. But being connected online and in real life are two VERY different things. It is time to learn how to actually build meaningful relationships and while there are a million blogs out there talking about this topic, they are missing one thing: you have to start with yourself. If you are new to the blog, thanks for stopping by! With MMNTM (mo-men-tum) my goal is to help you level up your mind and mindset with effective "workouts." Much like you would train your body, this is the gym for your mindset, everything from your happiness and mental clarity to mental discipline and productivity. These are the things that have helped me the most and I love sharing them with you daily on yourmmntm.com/blog so be sure to stop out daily! Now let's get back to what you started reading for. Here is What You Can Look Forward To
Why You Are Struggling To Build Solid RelationshipsMaybe it's your relationship with yourself you have to work on... Everyone has their reasons, some of us are socially awkward, some of us like our alone time, some of us don't even know where to start, the list could go on forever. It really isn't anything you are doing wrong when it comes to relationships, it really is just a mindset things that we can work on. Easy enough, right? Oh, and before we get too deep into this posts here I should probably say that when I refer to "relationships" it can apply to either friends or romantic relationships, these mindset hacks will help you excel in both. It's a win-win. What if I told you all of these reasons you have for not making solid relationships can boil down to a couple things, your confidence and how you market yourself to yourself. And actually how you are marketing yourself to yourself, or talking about yourself to yourself in your head, actually leads to confidence. So, I guess you could say that your relationships boil down to one core thing, your relationship with yourself. How Your Mindset Plays Into Relationship BuildingYou know by now, mindset is everything. If you have been around the blog for a while, you already know this but if you are new here, welcome and here is the core principle for MMNTM: Your mindset is at the foundation of everything, once you start changing the way you think, you start changing your life. And what do ya know, it is no different in the area of your relationships. Crazy, right? When you have a solid mindset, you are going to reflect that into the world and start attracting the people you want into your life. Instead of just going through the motions and not talking to anyone, just kind of getting through the day, you can start to find more confidence and purpose in your day to day. This will attract many others into your life because that energy is contagious. What exactly is a "solid mindset" though? I like to think of a solid mindset as one that eliminates negative thoughts so that you aren't speaking negativity into the world, one full of confidence and one full of passion. All of these will help you not be a "vanilla" (plain and boring) person and actually have things to talk about, attracting people into your life. Plus, when you eliminate negativity in your life, you are not going to be complaining as much. Nobody likes being around someone that constantly complains. Why Your Relationship With Yourself is EverythingIt's all about how you market yourself to yourself. You need to have a solid relationship with yourself if you want to add any of these traits into your life and start attracting the right people. If you have a poor relationship with yourself and are constantly talking about negative things in your head about yourself and your goals, your re never going to get anything done and more importantly this is going to translate into how you talk with others and make them not want to be around you. Instead, develop that relationship with yourself and start to change that voice inside your head. If you really want to change you have to do this. If you don't you are going to constantly be struggling to see results even though you are putting in the work. That voice in your head will subconsciously hold you back from creating these relationships. Want to learn more about crafting this relationship with yourself? Check out this post I wrote as few weeks ago: Click here to read about your relationship with yourself >> How to Actually Develop a Mindset That Helps Build RelationshipsAlmost every day I will bring you these "workouts" at the end of the articles to actually help you take action and change your mindset. Why? Because that is one of the major things I see missing in personal development, the actionable advice. Everyone has ideas and theories that are "up in the clouds," yet they never come down to Earth and give us some real ways to change. And that is what MMNTM is for, to help you actually change in a unique and fun way, it's like taking your mind to the gym every day at yourmmntm.com/blog Exercise #1: Take Away Negative Influences Notes: The best way to change the negative self talk in your head is going to be to take away the content and music that you are consuming, especially the news, and switch it out with some more positive content. Exercise #2: Cold Shower Reps: 1x per day Duration: 3-5 Minutes Notes: What better confidence boost than taking an uncomfortably cold shower each and every day, as it is almost for sure the hardest thing you will do that day. Exercise #3: Strike Up A Random Conversation Reps: 1-2x per day Notes: What better way to build some more confidence than to actually do what you aren't already doing. Exercise #4: Do Something New Reps: 1x per day Duration: 30 min- 1 hour a day Notes: Get out of your comfort zone and start doing or learning something that you would not have taken on in the past. It gives you something to talk about and gets you out of your routine. Just like that another day on the blog is in the books! Thanks for all the support and if you enjoyed this or learned anything I just ask one thing: bring a friend back tomorrow! Time to make personal development more "normal" because it is at the foundation of every area of our lives. So many people are coming out of school with the same degree as you, how are you going to set yourself apart? This is how...It seems as if everyone is living the same life these days. Going to college at ___________ University (they are almost all the same tbh) and then securing a job and starting to save for retirement. Just kind of coasting through their job because now it is time to "settle down" after the "wild college days" and who knows if you actually like what you went to school for or are even putting in the effort to challenge yourself in the field you are in. Once we are in our careers, and even before our careers, we are looking for ways to help ourselves stand out in order to get that promotion or even just get hired in the first place. The problem here is that everyone is doing the same things to try and stand out, they take an internship or study abroad in Europe for a few months like everyone else and think they are world travelers and are very "cultured." While these are very beneficial things both personally and professionally, it really doesn't count as standing out anymore with so many people doing these things, you have to do even more or something else. And that is where I can help. Have you ever thought about developing your mindset and thinking in order to stand out more? To have new and unique ideas our to be able to not be phased as much when things go wrong? It is one of the best tools you can add to your arsenal, yet nobody is doing it. This is your time to actually stand out. What to Expect
Why Your Degree isn't Worth As Much As It WasBecause every one and their mother is getting a college degree, it dilutes the value. How valuable is a degree when everyone else is getting the same degree? Answer: Not even close to as valuable as it once was. Especially if you go into a degree that is opposite of a "niche" industry or don't have a specific focus to your degree. A prime example of this is a "Business Management" degree, do you really think you are going to come out of college managing people? Not hating if this is your degree, just add another major or specialize/ learn something on the side as well so you don't end up managing somewhere like a Walmart. No longer can you just call it good going to college and assume you are going to have a job, the market is ever competitive now because everyone has a degree. Maybe this worked when our parents went to school but that is not the case anymore, we have to constantly be doing anything we can to set ourselves apart from our peers. And guess what, as always it all starts in your mindset, the foundation to every area of your life. The "Normal" Things People Do to "Set Themselves Apart"Is it really setting yourself apart if everyone is doing it? Hmmm... So you join a few clubs, take on an internship or two and then go to London to see a new culture. Or maybe you even take on a few extra classes, join a frat/ sorority, volunteer and gain some leadership experience in some way or another on campus. Cool, sounds like the average college experience. Now a days, it is all about what you are doing outside of campus as a whole, not just outside of class because everyone has things going on outside of classes. What are you working on in terms of passion projects? What are you studying that is different than your major or shows different interests? More importantly, how are you able to carry yourself? How is your internal dialogue? How do your thoughts come out, are they negative or actually positive (not just fake positive for an interview or in professional settings)? What are your habits, they speak a lot about you? How confident are you? All of these stem from your mindset. What Nobody is Focusing on To Set Themselves ApartMaybe you should focus on mastering your mindset, crazy idea for crazy results. How about focusing a little bit on your mindset, thought patterns and just overall happiness. Why? Because while this may not be a thing you can really put on your job application, this is going to be very obvious to others in the way you talk about topics and present yourself. People are going to see more passion and confidence and just overall happiness when you start to work on yourself and that really helps you stand out when everyone else is coming in stressed and crabby every day. Plus, it attracts opportunities and people into your life. Nobody thinks they have the time to work on themselves and they think that their happiness and personal development lies in that next big purchase of theirs. This is far from the case and the faster you realize this, the better off you will be. How This is Going to Help You Set Yourself ApartBecause nobody is doing it... How is someone not going to notice your passion, confidence and authenticity you craft when everyone else is just walking around and going through the motions. When everyone else is just showing up to class or going through the motions of their job and you are actually excited to learn and grow, people notice and gravitate towards you. This leads to many new opportunities and doors that will be open compared to if you were to just sit there, take notes, take the test and leave. When you start to change your mindset, you can start to look at yourself in a different light as well, likely more positive than the one you are seeing yourself in right now, and this will help you want to do more. Maybe you finally start that business or project you have always wanted to and that nobody else is doing, or even just learn something crazy to challenge yourself and step out of your comfort zone. Your mindset lies at the foundation to all of these extra things, outside of school, that you can be doing to set yourself apart. Yet, when we have a negative mindset, lack confidence and so much more, we never get around to doing these things that will actually help us live anything but normal lives. How Mastering Your Mindset Will Help Other Areas of LifeIt is the foundation to every other area of your life. College isn't really your thing? Well, lucky for you actually caring about developing your mindset will translate to every other area of your life as well. Trying to be more adventurous or outgoing? Building confidence will help with that ten fold. Or, probably the most important area of our lives, relationships, I bet you can guess your mindset can help you there as well. Not liking college or want to develop more in that chapter of your life is no reason not to focus on your mindset. Imagine going on a. date or even just meeting new people and not being all nervous and weird, rather calm and collected. Being able to connect more and create better relationships without trying to be better than the other person, rather learning from them. That alone should be a deciding factor to finally taking the steps you need to take and focusing on your mindset as without relationships life is really meaningless. Let's Actually Get Started Changing Your MindsetAlmost every day I will bring you these "workouts" at the end of the articles to actually help you take action and change your mindset. Why? Because that is one of the major things I see missing in personal development, the actionable advice. Everyone has ideas and theories that are "up in the clouds," yet they never come down to Earth and give us some real ways to change. And that is what MMNTM is for, to help you actually change in a unique and fun way, it's like taking your mind to the gym every day at yourmmntm.com/blog Exercise #1: Take a Morning Walk Duration: 45 minutes Notes: Wake up earlier and make this happen, it will build some discipline and help you start appreciating the little things as a lot of us don't get outside as much as we should. Exercise #2: Cold Shower Duration: 3-5 Minutes Notes: Make it uncomfortably cold, this will help with doing the things that are hard because nothing during the day will suck as much as that shower does in the morning! Exercise #3: Control What You Consume Notes: We all consume countless amounts of content on a day to day basis, do you know what you are actually consuming though? A lot of it, especially news, is negative. Take inventory and get rid of as much negative as you can. Exercise #4: Do a Guided Loving and Kindness Meditation Duration:12-30 minutes Notes: One of my favorite morning meditations to do, here is a link to a great on to start: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sz7cpV7ERsM Wow, just like that another day on the blog is in the books! Whether that was taking time to go to the gym, go on a run or work on your business you had always wanted to work on. Hell, maybe you were just trying to get that paper done in the class you're always behind in. Congrats, but guess what? That first day of doing the "hard sh*t" was actually the easy day, the following weeks are the harder days. Why? Because it is easy to get out of your comfort zone once and then just retreat back into it after doing so because you are feeling good about yourself. But if you go back right to where you started, what good does that do you? Not much. The real challenge we need to face is the days after we make the initial move to change some aspect of our lives. This is where mental endurance comes in. Here's What to Expect
What is Mental Endurance? The thing you face everyday but might have never heard of. How many times has a similar situation happened to you... you start something that you have been excited about starting and then a few weeks later you are back in your old routines and habits because that is what is easier even though you now know it is doing you no good. I will be willing to bet that this has happened to almost every single one of us. Mental endurance is not the initial start of doing something new in your life, instead it is the continuation of doing that action and crafting a new mindset for yourself. It is doing what is hard when that seems like the last thing you want to do and avoiding falling back into those old patterns or habits that you already know DON'T get you the results that you are looking for. Many people I have seen just never take the time to work on their mental endurance and when the time comes for them to actually need it, they don't have it and fall victim to their old ways. This is avoidable and very easy to practice if you really put in the time and practice what I am going to show you here. This is how you can set yourself apart from your peers and really make strides in improving any area of your life. The Thing Causing Many People to Struggle With ResultsAnd why they are struggling... Their weak mindsets, plain and simple. But who can blame them when we were all conditioned to do what is easiest in life and avoid any real hard work. We sit on our phones and watch Netflix because that is what is easy, even though we know we have better things to do. We go out and party because that is easier than saying "no" and actually getting some productive work done. And we eat a ton of unhealthy food because that is easier than trying to cook or even find our own healthy food. Always falling victim to what is easier, even after taking the first steps towards really changing some aspect of our lives. This needs to change if we really want to get some results. Why We Need Mental Endurance to See ResultsNo matter what area of your life you are looking for results in, this is going to help. Well, unless you think the doing something for just a week or two is going to get you results, which it is not most likely, then mental endurance is everything when it comes to results. If you don't have the right mindset to push through the hard times where you are doing all the work and seeing no results, then you are going to fall back into what is easier, it's that simple. With a little bit of mental endurance you are able to trust the process a little more, focus on the work rather than the results and push through that initial period of struggle to see the results. Literally anyone can power through for a few weeks or a month without much thought, it is when more months start to go by that it gets harder and hard top keep going when your mind keeps telling you that it is alright to take a break. Just take this example: You have been grinding at the gym for a few months now, not eating anything bad and and then your mind starts to tell you that you deserve a little treat and can eat whatever you want this weekend. Next thing you know, that energy follows you into the next week and before too long you are back in your old ways like nothing has even changed. Why? Because that is what is easy for our minds to do, so that is what they will do. You have to learn to override those thoughts of falling into the pattern of doing what is easy. How Our Lives Will Look After Improving Your Mental EnduranceThis is one of the essential building blocks to our mindset. Imagine being able to actually want to keep pushing through instead of being tempted every single day to go do what is easy. Yes, that is what mental endurance can do for you. I'm not saying that you are never going to be tempted again, actually far from that. Rather, you are going to be tempted much less because every time you start working on something hard, you won't be tempted to stop. I know that feeling too well, you start something and then an hour later you feel good about yourself and "take a break" which turns into an all night break and you don't get much done. When we train our minds to be a little more resilient and endure some more, we are able to see the bigger picture, and not be tempted to veer off course as much. So, how do you actually train your mind to do this? I will finally show you in the next section! How to Actually Improve Your Mental EnduranceAlmost every day I will bring you these "workouts" at the end of the articles to actually help you take action and change your mindset. Why? Because that is one of the major things I see missing in personal development, the actionable advice. Everyone has ideas and theories that are "up in the clouds," yet they never come down to Earth and give us some real ways to change. And that is what MMNTM is for, to help you actually change in a unique and fun way, it's like taking your mind to the gym every day at yourmmntm.com/blog Before I jump into the workout today, it is important that you do these things every single day, because that is the definition of mental endurance. It won't help if you just do these things when you feel like it. Exercise #1: Cold Showers Duration: 3-5 minutes Notes: Make it uncomfortably cold, not just "colder than normal." Exercise #2: Make Your Bed Notes: Everyday, whether people are going to see it or not. Whether you are in a hurry or not. Make the bed. Exercise #3: Clean Up Right Away Notes: Make some food or just notice a mess? Start cleaning that up, even if it isn't yours, right when you notice it. Exercise #4: Learn Something Everyday Duration: 1 hour Notes: Spend this time learning a new skill or just more about your niche, an essential habit to have. Exercise #5: Meditate Everyday Reps: 1-2x per day Duration: 15-30 minutes Notes: this one is hard to stick to for some as a lot of people have trouble sitting still with their thoughts, that is why it will help the most building mental endurance. Wow, just like that another day on the blog is in the books! Thanks for all the support and if you enjoyed this or learned anything I just ask one thing: bring a friend back tomorrow! It is a dangerous trap because there are so many reasons why you might not be happy, yet they can all boil down to one core principle. Are you sure you are ready for it? "Well duh, why wouldn't I be ready for it?" Have you ever thought that maybe the answer to your happiness isn't something you want to hear but rather something you have been hearing and don't really want to accept because it is not as easy as sitting around being unhappy? Just think how easy it is sitting around all day unhappy with life, you really don't have to commit to anything because you can just say you're unhappy and can just read articles on how to be more happy, yet never talk action because being happy takes work. Work that is well worth it, everyone can do it, yet so many people just avoid it. So, are you finally ready to be happy? Let's goooo.... Here is What to Expect
Why You Are Reading This BlogAnd I know this is not the first post you have likely read... I have been in the same spot as you, and honestly you have probably come across many answers to your solution to happiness throughout the course of looking through all these articles. We read articles like these because they are actually much, much easier than actually taking any type off action to change and start finding more happiness. Why? Because happiness, as with anything in life, takes work. You can't just sit here waiting to read something, hoping that reading that one thing is going to make you happy. That is just not how life works, just like in business, you can't just read something and automatically be good at running a business, it takes time and practice. Key word: PRACTICE. Something that you can't just think about, you have to actually do. Happiness is not thought into existence, so stop avoiding the real work if you want to be happy. The Likely Reasons You Are Still UnhappyYou're searching long and hard for a "secret" that is right in front of your eyes. You already know the source of your unhappiness, whether you want to admit it or not, so I really don't want to go over what other articles focus so much on. Rather I want to help you realize you can change and start to actually change, not just think about how unhappy you are like everyone else who writes on the topic of "happiness" seems too do. Kinda ironic if you ask me! So, the reason you are unhappy is likely because you don't get off your damn phone and Netflix and aren't actually doing anything that would contribute to your happiness. How happy do you really think you are going to get when you are sitting on YouTube watching videos of sad songs or just watching Netflix to pass the time? You aren't going to get happier because you are doing nothing to excel and show yourself improvement. Happiness comes from time and work, and while you can sure get a little more happy over the long time when you get further from the period of time that made you unhappy, such as a breakup, why not excel that process? Yes, you really can do that. How Our Mindsets Needs to ChangeWe need a HUGE shift in the way we are thinking about finding happiness. Actually, it's not a hugeee shift, it is just a hard shift to make. What is it exactly? Switching your thought process from happiness is required before you can take action on anything to taking action on things to start making yourself happy. Seems easy enough right? Yes, if you can keep to your word of actually doing things. Our minds naturally gravitate towards what is easy and what we are comfortable with. Taking action is neither of those things, but if we can master this mindset we can get this ball rolling towards happiness. The "Secret" to Happiness That You Have Been Looking ForJust do more. Actually go to the gym. Actually get started taking walks in the morning. Actually start writing what you have always wanted to write. Actually start that business you have always wanted to start. Actually learn that new thing you wanted to learn. Start knocking things off the list that you have been pushing off for years now, because that is what is actually going to make you happy. Doing more and actually seeing yourself grow and become a new version of yourself. You have tried pretty much everything else at this point by now, why not give this a try because I can assure you that you have much better odds of getting results in terms of your happiness doing this than anything else you have tried. Trust me, I have tried it and it is a world of difference. Does This Actually Work? Why yes, yes it definitely does. A crazy thing starts to happen when you start talking more action and seeing results in your life. Wanna know what that is? You start to build more confidence in your life and confidence leads to happiness. When you are seeing results and more confident, you see what you actually have the potential to do and slowly start to get rid of that negative light you were shinning own your life. When you can start to get rid of that negative light and think about more positive things, that is where the happiness starts to come into the equation. All of these things are essential if you want to start building up your happiness. How to Actually Start Getting Rid of Your UnhappinessAlmost every day I will bring you these "workouts" at the end of the articles to actually help you take action and change your mindset. Why? Because that is one of the major things I see missing in personal development, the actionable advice. Everyone has ideas and theories that are "up in the clouds," yet they never come down to Earth and give us some real ways to change. You were getting more views on your website, getting in way better shape at the gym, starting to feel better after changing your diet, feeling happier, etc. But then after a while you realize the results just aren't the same or you can't get any better results even though you are doing the same work as you were before. Why? Because your mind has gotten comfortable with these new habits and it is just another part of your day, you really aren't pushing yourself or trying to do more. Our minds gravitate towards what is easy and comfortable and that is why a lot of results plateau. People think they can just be doing the same amount of work and be "patient" and the results will come, that is just not the case when you aren't pushing yourself anymore. This is how to get out of that mindset trap. A Quick Glimpse At What to Expect
Why You Are Reading This PostAre the results not coming like they used to be? Well, obviously there is a reason many of you stumbled on this post. Whether you were trying to figure out why you just aren't getting any results or aren't getting the results you were previously in any area of your life. This can be applied to every area whether it be your fitness, your health, your relationship with your partner, in business or even in your happiness and mindset. We get to a point where we can't be doing the same actions and getting better results. It happens to all of us, without doubt, in some area of life and we just have to recognize it and change. It's almost impossible to be constantly trying new things and pushing the boundaries in all areas of your life at once and that is why we all see results plateau at some point, so don't worry. Whatever the next area you want to focus on is, this post is going to help you do so. Showing Up Might Not Be Enough AnymoreIt worked at first, that time has come and gone. When you first started this new habit of yours, incorporated something new into your life, or simply just started doing more work to see better results in whatever area of your life it may be, you essentially had to just show up. Why? Because you went from doing nothing in that area to doing something and that is sure to bring about results. The beautiful thing here is that this is always the starting point, so don't worry when you really weren't doing anything too complex and seeing results, sometimes the simplest things in life get the best results (actually this is most of the time). But that time has come and passed and showing up isn't doing shit for us anymore... I'm not saying that you have to go and create some elaborate plan new that the simple things aren't working, maybe you just need to start doing different things and breaking some patterns that you have created for yourself. Why We Just Keep Showing UpOur mind gravitates to what is easy and comfortable. A lot of people end up just constantly showing up for their whole lives and wondering why they aren't seeing results anymore. The thing is if we do this for long enough we train our minds to think that this is what it takes and we just have to be patient and let the results come. While being patient is true, you have to be aggressive in changing patterns short term that aren't working. Why? Because our minds gravitate towards what is easy and comfortable and once you start showing up for long enough, that is what becomes easy and comfortable. No longer is this a new and challenging action, no matter how hard it is, it eventually becomes more and more comfortable. And that its when we need to start to change. How Our Mindset Plays A Role in All of ThisAs in all the blog posts, mindset is at the foundation of everything. If you are new to the blog, I'll let you in on a little something I always like to reiterate because it is so important and essentially the foundation of what MMNTM stands for. And if you read daily, you are actually the best and I'll let you hear this again: Your mindset is the foundation to every area of your life. If your mind isn't right, you are going to struggle to see results. So, start changing your thinking and start changing your life. No matter how much action you are trying to take, your mindset determines the results you can be getting, whether you are consciously aware of it or not. Just think about it, if you are working super hard to build a happy mindset yet you have nothing but negative thoughts and aren't subconsciously aware of the negative light you see the world in, then you are never going to really change. Your mindset is like a current, if you are trying to swim against the current, you aren't going to go very far, even if you are swimming very hard. Switch directions and go with the current, you are going to go forever. You can't see the current usually, but it is always there and same thing with your mindset. How Our Mindset Needs to ChangeTime to make the change if you want real results. Instead of just doing the action one time and then repeatedly doing the same action over and over again for years, how about we teach our minds to continually test and test. What exactly is this going to do for us? It is going to keep our minds from getting too comfortable in one habit, to constantly be pushing the boundaries and that is where we get results. Instead of just doing the same things day in and day out, train your mind to figure out how to achieve that year goal in a couple of months because I'm sure there is a way to get close at least. This is the way we have to start to think, to constantly test and push ourselves, rather than just feel good after changing a few things in our lives and coast for the next couple of months. This just leads to mediocre results. Why would you want mediocre results in anything? Average happiness doesn't sound fun to me, I don't know about you guys... And just like that another day in the gym at yourmmntm.com/blog has come to an end. If you really enjoyed the article all I ask is that you bring one friend back tomorrow for the blog, let them know about MMNTM! Thanks again for stopping out and I look forward to seeing you all again tomorrow. -Taylor Other Content You'll EnjoyYou can't learn a new "software" in your brain with the old "hardware..."You can change all of your habits. Start waking up earlier for a walk and take a cold shower. Start meditating. Start eating right. Start taking some real action towards your personal goals. And still struggle to see results. Why? You might be subconsciously holding yourself back. Yes, that is possible even if you are taking the right actions. It all comes down to going back to the foundation of our brains and thinking to get that "hardware" in our brains right so that we have the right foundation to build our mindset off of. A Quick Glimpse At the Blog
Why Those Personal Development Books Aren't Helping YouEven if you are taking action, you might not be seeing results and this is why. You are constantly reading these books on changing your mindset and improving your life, yet nothing ever seems to be happening. Yes, I know that feeling too well, after spending damn near like 2 years in this cycle. I always thought it was just the book being too "in the clouds" with concepts that didn't work. In reality, that was not the case at all, it was my previous mindset, brain and habits holding me back and I can realize that now after re-reading these books and actually putting the strategies to use. Yes, they really work when you actually put them to work. The self-help books aren't working because we don't have the right hardware in our minds yet. We don't have the right diet for our brains, we haven't let go of negative thinking and we just aren't ready for these new habits yet... Until now that is. How People Get Stuck in This "Trap"It's a very unproductive cycle, would not recommend... "It must be the book." "Oh a new book came out, this is going to be the one that I actually use to change my mindset." Andddd three months later, we reflect on where we are w\and we haven't gone far at all in terms of developing ourselves. Sound familiar? I know this is exactly what I was doing. The sad thing is that many people don't even realize this and fall victim to this trap the rest of their lives. Good thing for you, you found this article so that won't be you now! Don't be the one stuck thinking it's the books that are the problem, at some point we have to take accountability and realize that maybe we need to change something in our mindset in order to have the results we desire. How You Can Get Personal Development to Work For YouThis will actually make a lot of sense to you hopefully and show you why you are struggling with results. Before you read your next "self-help" book, get this right and build a better foundation to grow your mindset off of. You'll likely be able top build it much easier with a solid footing and something to build off of, instead of a ton of old habits and beliefs you were holding onto. How bad is our foundation? Well, unless you are out of the ordinary and grew up with parents that instilled powerful and positive beliefs in you from the get go, you are likely trying to build off of a weak foundation of beliefs right now. While you may be thinking "that is what I'm trying to grow for," there are a few things that we need to change before we even start to grow. We need to first repair the foundation of our minds so that it is not cracked and easier to build off of. We have to focus on activities that repair before we jump to activities that will help us grow. So, what exactly does this "foundation" consist of? Well, it is essentially everything from your past mindsets to your past beliefs, some of which might be much harder to change than we think it will be. While these mindsets will be used for our growth as well, rebuilding of the foundation of our brains is all focused around getting rid of the toxic things in our lives so that we can insert positive things more easily. That includes getting rid of the negative mindsets a lot of us carry and making way for new mindsets that we can bring into our lives. Why You Need to Focus on The "Hardware" of Your BrainThe foundation to your mindset needs to be strong to build off of. You really are going to struggle to see results because your subconscious mind might be holding you back in ways you don't know. It is just like trying to swim against the current, sure you'll be putting a lot of work in but you really won't be going anywhere. Instead, get that "hardware" in your brain right so that you are able to insert that new "software" from what you are learning in these books and actually have it work. You can't get a new piece of software to run on an old computer. Time to fix your foundation. Step One, Without A DoubtLearn your brain. So, all this talk and not a lot of action so far, huh? Lemme change that, here is the first step to fixing the foundation of your brain. Actually take the time to learn about your brain. Learn about what vitamins you are likely lacking in your brain as well as what actions might be needed to improve the overall health of your brain. If you don't have a healthy brain to work with, you might not make it very far in terms of personal development. Taking my brain health seriously has made the biggest difference and I really didn't know I wasn't functioning at optimal brain function until I started to change what I ate and take extra vitamins. How do you find out what your brain needs? Start with your free brain health assessment, to learn about your brain type, vitamins and much more: Click here to take that test, from one off the world's leading brain doctors >> Them, head on over to Dave Asprey's Bulletproof Blog, where he talks about all things rbain health. Click here to check that out >> Removing NegativityHarder than it sounds, try it for a full day and let me know... Time to move to a more neutral frame of mind, one that allows you space to be open to new ideas and strategies that will help you grow. Negative thoughts take up a lot of brain space and they really do us no good as they just cause us stress and anxiety. Feeling like that is no way to build a foundation of growth off of, it is a recipe for failure. I know one thing forsure, you can be skeptical of positive thinking all you want, but negative thinking works very well and it will attract many negative things into your life. In would rather put my odds on positive and neutral thinking working out than have negative thinking work out, just my thoughts though ;) Start taking this negativity out of our lives and open up some space for real growth. It feels good to be happy and not complaining all the time even though it is hard as hell in the beginning to switch your mindset if you have been conditioned for a while to think negatively. The Diet for Your BrainOne of the most important aspects for mindset. Without this you are screwed... Do you ever question yourself about if what you are eating is good for your brain or not? I know I never did, until I actually started to and realized that once I cut out the things that were bad for me, I started to think more clearly and just had a better mood during the day. I wouldn't have guessed that food had that big of a connection to how I was feeling mentally, until I actually made the switch to cut a lot of things out. I was a college kid and eating what every other college kid was eating, nothing even close to good for you, plus drinking wayyyy too much. Looking back on it, it makes total sense why so many college kids are not as happy as they could be, it likely stems partly from the brutal diet that us college kids have. I was really trying to get back in a better mood, so In started to cut out things I knew weren't good for me and add things I knew I needed more of. And it isn't anything weird either, pretty normal foods that we all know we need to be eating but never really do. Just simple things like cutting out a lot of processed foods, sugar and unneeded carbs (like a ton of bread) and subbing in things like way more water (our brain is mostly water so we need to keep it hydrated), more veggies and more protein, can help reduce out brain fog and get us thinking clearer. No better way to try to grow personally then when you are thinking clearly. Your Mind's WorkoutAlmost every day I will sum up the blog in some mental "workouts, which are essentially going to help you train your mind, much like you would train your body at the gym. Why? Because that is what MMNTM is all about, workouts for your mind. Much like you would train your body at the gym, this is like your mind's gym. Your mindset is the foundation to the rest of your life so why would you not be training and improving that as well? Exercise #1: Zero Sugar or Alcohol This Week Reps: 1x Duration: 1 week (longer if ya really want results) Notes: Harder than it seems, still one of the harder things that I work on day to day. Exercise #2: No Complaints Duration: As long as you can Notes: Let's see how long you can go without complaining. Exercise #3: Meditation Reps: 2x per day (Morning and Night) Duration: 15-20 minutes per session Notes: Try some guided meditations on YouTube Exercise #4: Changing Your Negative Thinking Duration: All day Notes: Whenever you catch yoiruself thinkign negative, or more importantly saying negative things, catch yourself and chnage it or just don't say it/ think it at all. -Taylor Other Content You'll EnjoyWhat you consume impacts your mindset much more than you realize...We wake up and immediately turn on music and hop in the shower. Then on our way to work, what do we listen to? Likely more music or some news. Oh and at the gym, what are you listening to? Even more music! While there really is not a problem with so much music, if you are really trying to change your mind and your life, then these are key times that you are wasting listening to music. I love music just as much as the rest of you, hell maybe even more than you do, we just have to realize that it is very beneficial for us to switch out for a podcast a few times per day so we can start learning and developing our mindsets. Podcasts are crucial as you can listen to them while you are doing tasks that don't require a ton of focus such as walking or going to the gym, and then you can learn as well. A HUGE upside here is that you will also not get sick of your playlists as fast ;) I'd say that is a win-win. A Quick Glimpse At What to Expect
Why What We Consume MattersYour environment consists of more than just the people you surround yourself with and environment is everything. The classic saying, we are the average of the 5 people we are around the most, holds true and strong. But what does it forget? It forgets the rest of what consists in our environment now, content. Before the major rise of technology, we were almost solely influenced by those we were around and what we were reading, now times have changed. Everyday we are consuming countless amounts of content, taking in what it is saying and helping ourselves grow a little through it, hopefully. Where this might pose as a problem is when you are consuming the wrong things. If you are consuming too many negative stories on the news, reading too many posts about someone complaining about something, or even just listening to too many sad songs, these are all going to affect our mindset. How? Well, if all you are hearing is negativity on a day to day basis, you are going to start training your brain to think in a more negative light and even if you don't want to, you might start shining a negative light on the world. The content you consume is a large part of your day and many don't realize the effects it can actually have on your mind. Why Podcasts Are A Great Place to Start Changing Your Environment No better way to hear from industry and thought leaders in all niches with essentially endless content to craft your positive mindset. What better way to control what you are listening to than to actually know what you are about to listen to and pick the topic? When you turn on the news, you are just going to get whatever they want to show to you and it is usually around fear and negativity because that its what gets views for them and more views equates to more money. That is not the case with podcasts, you can scroll through millions of shows and episodes to find one that is interesting and beneficial to you, filling your mind with knowledge rather than fear. But with millions to choose from, how are you sure which ones to listen to that aren't also going to be negative? Well, I have a solid list for you below on some of my favorites that I have been listening to for 1-4 years now, depending on the podcast! How about some podcasts now?!The School of GreatnessHelping you learn to master your greatness from the top business minds, though leaders and professional athletes. Starting off the list strong here with one of my go-to podcasts with Lewis Howes. This was actually one of the first podcasts that I had ever listened to and here I am, four years later, still listening and learning something every week. Lewis brings top guests from all industries from professional athletes to top business people and a lot of them converse about mindset, personal development, health and wellness and how this relates to their life story. So many people to learn from here and Lewis is a great interviewer, I would really recommend checking this podcast out. Ed Mylett ShowTransform your body, mind and life with actionable advice from the top people in each industry. The Ed Mylett Show, hosted by you can probably guess but Ed Mylett, interviews many of the top business minds and professional athletes as well, as they talk more about actionable strategies to change your life. Whether it be in your work, business, health or wellness, he covers almost any topic with some of the best people to talk about each subject with. This is a great podcasts to start to develop that mindset you need to find success in your life, even if you don't have your own business. Impact TheoryFrom the founder of Quest Nutrition, bringing you the best mindset strategies to help really start to change your life. Impact Theory is more of a health, wellness and mindset podcast as Tom Bilyeu owns one of the largest nutrition companies, Quest Nutrition who is widely known for their protein bars called "Quest Bars." (I eat them daily and they are damn good) Tom brings own some of the best in the field of health and wellness from anti-aging experts to brain trainers and even nutrition experts to pick their minds and see how we can start changing our health and minds in order to have a greater impact on our own lives. Short Story LongFounder of the Young and Reckless clothing company, learn from the best minds on how they crafted success in their lives and hear their amazing stories. This is one of the newer ones that I have stumbled across after listening to his episode with Trevor Moawad (click here to listen to that) and I am really starting to enjoy this podcast and Chris' interview style. Short Story Long is hosted by Chris Pfaff who is the founder of the Young and Reckelss clothing company, you might have heard of it before. Again, this is a podcast focused around mindset and developing the skills you need to get to that next level in life, learning from some of the best minds in their industry. The thing I like about Short Stroy Long is that Chris asks questions that a lot of others aren't asking and he really does a deep dive with some unique guests, such as Wiz Khalifa. The Jordan Harbinger ShowExplore the untapped knowledge of some off the highest performers in the world in their respective niches. The Jordan Harbinger Show is another one of my newer listens in the realm of podcasts and I ask really enjoying this as well, Jordan just has an enjoyable voice to listen to as he talks with his guests. Jordan focuses on interviewing the top performers in their niches so that we can learn from their stories and actually start finding some information on how to get closer to that goal you might have. The Rich Roll PodcastAll things mindset, mentality and wellness with some of the most knowledgeable athletes, coaches and minds in related niches. These last three podcasts are really solid so don't close out off the page just yet ;) The Rich Roll Podcast is one of my go-to podcasts as Rich focuses on interviewing unique people on unique topics in health and wellness. Everyone from ultra marathoners (marathons that con get to over 100 miles long) to plant based diet experts. Then, he is great at relating everything back to our own mindsets and health no matter how "out there" the topic might seem to you such as "Why would I ever go plant based?" Plus, he has a TON of interviews based around development of our minds, mindset, happiness, etc so it is well worth the time to takes to listen. The MFCEO ProjectLearning the mindsets required to fulfill our true potential. This is a must listen in my opinion, don't play yourself. Another one off the first podcasts that I started listening to and still listen to during this day, so you know it is solid. The MFCEO Project is hosted by Andy Frisella, owner of 1st Phorm Supplements as well as a few other supplement companies that do well over $100 million in sales every year. While this may seem like a business podcast, and it kind of is, one of Andy's favorite topics is mental toughness and he talks a lot consistently about developing a strong mindset with some of the most actionable ways to do so. While he doesn't post everyday like a lot of these podcasts do, when he does post you known you need to listen to it. The Tim Ferriss ShowDeconstructing world class performers into knowledge, tools and tactics we can use. The Tim Ferriss Show, hosted by Tim Ferriss who is the author off the 4-Hour Work Week and the 4-Hour Body, interviews so many different people from so many different walks of life. Yet, one topic that seems to consistently come up is our mental strength and mindsets and that is why this podcast is on the list. While there will be a ton of business, health, relationship, family, etc topics in this podcast, they almost all revolve around mindset. This podcast is usually on the longer side, same with the Rich Roll Podcast, clocking in at an average of an hour and a half to two hours long. While you might be thinking that this is way too long and you can't find that kind of time, there is a way. On the bottom of your iTunes Podcast player, there is a little "1x" which means that the podcast is playing at 1x speed (normal). I trained my mind to start listening to it at 2x speed by first listening to a few weeks worth of podcasts at 1.5x speed and then 2x speed. Now, 2x speed seems normal and I actually can't listen to podcasts at normal speed because they sound so slow. This allows you to get through podcasts in less time! The focus of this post was not to show you everything that you can learn from these podcasts, while thaty is wildly important still though, the focus was to show you hwo to start taking control of what we are consuming and make it more positive. Our environment means so much when it comes to how we are thinking. And just like that another day in the gym at yourmmntm.com/blog has come to an end. If you really enjoyed the article all I ask is that you bring one friend back tomorrow for the blog, let them know about MMNTM! Even if you were doing everything you thought you needed to, this one factor might have been holding you back without you realizing it. Your environment, who you surround yourself with, what you read and what you hear on a daily basis subconsciously shapes our mindset and attitude towards life. We all know the saying that we are the average of the 5 people we spend the most time with and while you may understand that, are you actually putting that into use? Or are you still spending all your time with negative people while you are trying to find more happiness for yourself? That isn't going to work out too well for you now is it? It isn't just your friends that you surround yourself with though that impact your mindset, it's everything you surround yourself with and consume. A Quick Glimpse of the Article
The Role Your Environment Plays in Developing Your MindsetIt is everything. How does everything play a role in developing your mindset? We already know that surrounding yourself with negative people causes a negative mindset, or with people who are always living "broke" will make you the same way, that kind of goes without question as you pick up some of their beliefs and habits. But what about everything else? Just think about it, if you are constantly listening to sad songs, how the hell are you supposed to get out of your head and start to find some happiness? Or if you are constantly reading things about why you should settle down or listening to podcasts around negative thoughts such as never achieving your goals, how are you supposed to make anything out of your life then? From articles to TV shows to music, whatever you surround yourself with impacts the way you are thinking if you are exposed to it enough. Other people aren't the only factor in our mindset, yet they play a large part, the things that we "consume" or are exposed to on a daily basis play just as large of a factor. Why This Could Be A ProblemIs it really that big of a deal? Your momentum means everything in life, if you have positive momentum, towards positive goals then you are 10x more likely to achieve them because of the mindset you have combined with the work you are doing. When you are exposing yourself to negative things on a daily basis, and we almost all are whether we realize it or not, it is like trying to swim against the current. You are going to be taking a similar amount of action to the first situation but you won't be getting the same results. This is a problem because even though we might be doing the work required, we are subconsciously holding ourselves back from results if we don't get our mindset right. This goes back to what I always say, the mindset is the foundation to everything in life, if we don't have that right or are working on changing it, we won't be able to change our lives. Your environment is one of the biggest factors to your mindset and luckily it is easy to change on paper, it just means you are going to have to totally change up your habits you have around consuming content. Ways Our Environment Might Be Hurting Our MindsetIt comes down to everything you consume, everyone you surround yourself with, pretty much just everything in general. We have to start actively being aware of what we are surrounding ourselves with and what we are consuming. We might be reading the same types of books, listening to the same music or the same podcasts and following the same people on social media, all having an impact on our mindset and what we believe to be true. It is just a pattern for a lot of us at this point to continue to consume the same content and surround ourselves with the same things that we always have because that is what is "comfortable and easy" to us and if you have read the last few blog posts, such as this one >>, you know that our bodies naturally gravitate towards the "easy" and that is not what we want. Just take the popular trend of country music here in the midwest, it may seem harmless but say you go through a breakup and that is all you listen to because the "lyrics are so relatable." You get to a point where you are going to be even worse off because all you are listening to are things saying how sad life is or how you wish they would come back to you or how you don't need love because you have beer. How the hell are you supposed to get better when all you are consuming is words that makes you resonate with the feeling of sadness? Instead, imagine if you took the time after a break up to see all the extra time you have to work on yourself now and went all in listening to podcasts about your growth and opportunities. You are going to have a totally different and more positive mindset than the first situation. I actually did this after a recent break up as I was listening to a lot of negative podcasts and music so I took a step back, realized it and started focusing on consuming information about my growth. That, combined with some time has put me in a better position than I have ever been in, in terms of my mindset. Why We Need to Change ThisUnless you want to keep having trouble developing more positive mindsets... You probably don't want to be spending the rest of your life swimming against the current and struggling to see results even though you are putting in massive amounts of work. This will just lead to more negative thoughts as you will think you can never do it, and leave you in an uncontrolled downward spiral. This is not what I want for anyone and you should not want this for yourself either, time to take control of the foundation of your life. Here is how to do so... How to Start Changing Your EnvironmentAlmost every day I will sum up the blog in some mental "workouts, which are essentially going to help you train your mind, much like you would train your body at the gym. Why? Because that is what MMNTM is all about, workouts for your mind. Much like you would train your body at the gym, this is like your mind's gym. Your mindset is the foundation to the rest of your life so why would you not be training and improving that as well? Exercise #1: Take Inventory Notes: Take inventory about who you follow on social media, the music you are listening to, the podcasts you are listening to, the people you surround yourself with, etc, and see what they are talking about. Is it positive or negative usually? Exercise #2: Positive Affirmations Reps: 1x per day Duration: 10 minutes Notes: You can start taking control of your internal environment as well as you start taking control of the opiutside environment. Exercise #3: Supplement Some of These Podcasts In Reps: While in car, at gym, or on walks Notes: Here are some positive podcasts-- The School of Greatness, The Rich Roll Podcast, On Purpose, Impact Theory, The Tim Ferriss Show Exercise #4: Limit The Time Around Negative People Notes: You don't have to fully cut off your friends from the past, especialy if you are very close with them and have known them forever. Maybe just spend a little less time with them and work on yourself more. And just like that another day in the gym at yourmmntm.com/blog has come to an end. (check out the podcast here) The guest on the episode was Trevor Moawad who happens to be one of the top brain coaches and trainers in professional sports, yes that really is a thing. What exactly were they talking about? Marketing, yes marketing. But not the marketing you would think of such as ads you see on Instagram, instead this was what they called "internal marketing." How you market to yourself, specifically how you market who you are and what you believe to yourself. This has been a large focus of mine over the past months as I have been trying to refine my "inner dialogue" and I was really drawn to this podcast. Let me tell you some more about marketing to yourself and hope you can actually start doing so. A Quick Glimpse At What to Expect
Internal vs. External MarketingI'm sure you already know what external marketing is. Billboards, radio ads, ads on your Facebook or Instagram feeds, brand deals, etc. That is marketing to most people, right? Well, that is one form of marketing, definitely not my favorite form of marketing though as this is known as "external marketing" or marketing coming from outside your body (I'll explain in a minute) with the goal for you to believe and then take action on something that others want you to believe and act on. What's my favorite type of marketing though? Internal marketing and it is very fundamentally similar to external marketing, here's how... Internal marketing is how you are marketing yourself to yourself, essentially it is your inner voice. Including everything from how you talk to yourself when you face a challenge to the beliefs that you hold and follow each day. This is what guides your actions on a day to day basis and can help you significantly or it can also negatively impact your life, which I will talk about later. It is relatively similar to external marketing in the fact that internal marketing also leads you to believe something, this time about yourself though, and then take action based around that belief. The Importance of Internal MarketingAnd why nobody is doing it... Even though meditation, mindset work, brain training, developing your inner voice, etc is essential and actually starting to get more "mainstream" along with personal development, a lot of people still see personal development as "hippy shit" and stuff that "normal people" don't do. This couldn't be further from the truth as many of the top CEO's and even professional atheletes focus on this on a day to day basis. Nobody is working on their inner dialogue because of the stigma attached to it that is slowly being broken, so this is definitely the time to take advantage of this and get ahead of your peers. Why is internal marketing so important though? Because it guides your actions and your actions lead to your results. Just think about it, if you constantly have a negative mindset and don't believe you can achieve anything and that major achievements are for "other people," then you are never going to take the action required to do anything more than just dream about your goals. This is why so many people get stuck in a "cycle" of negative things coming into their life, because they are constantly telling themselves that they are not good enough or believing that people should feel bad for them. This leads to actions that confirm that inner dialogue and a you can imagine, leads to results that are not ideal. Let's flip that around now, instead look at atheletes who hire these types of brain trainers in order to fully develop their inner dialogue so that they can believe in their abilities and continue to operate at their highest level. When you mix you internal marketing with your skills, that is when you become dangerous. What Everyone is Doing Wrong Inside Their HeadsYes, there's a wrong way to think. They are doing exactly what everyone else is doing, what they have been surrounded by and what is easy. And for most of us, this includes a lot of complaining and negative self talk. Unless you were raised with some woke parents, happened to fall in a very positive social circle or have developed your internal marketing on your own already, you probably fall in this boat. Our bodies and minds are conditioned to gravitate towards what is easy and when you are around people that are complaining (which is a good number of people in the world) then you are likely just going to join them as that is easier than "going against the grain." The problem with this is that it starts to train our minds to think in a negative light and then if we are exposed to this long enough, we start to believe more of the negative things than the positive and create almost a negative viewpoint on the world, even if this is not your intention. This can lead to lack of action because "success is what other people have, not me" or even just less happiness in your day to day life. This is exactly why we need to start focusing on how we are marketing ourselves to ourselves, because if we are seeing the world and ourself in a negative light, we are going to start believing that and it will impact the actions we take. Why We Need to Change ThisYou don't want to keep hurting your results and happiness do you? I'll keep this section short and simple so we can get to the taking action part of the post... Why would you want to impact your results and happiness? Why would you want to go around feeling like the world is against you, that nothing ever works out for you and that you can never achieve anything? You would never want that, so why are we speaking that into existence? Change the way you market to yourself and start to see more results in your life in everything from your work to even your happiness as you go about your day. There is something powerful about letting go of those negative beliefs about yourself and going all in on positive thinking, or at least "neutral thinking" like Trevor talks about in the podcast. Very few times in life does one part of your day impact your future so much, this is the exception though. If not executed on right, you will lose your momentum and ultimately make very little progress towards your goals in trade with a little more comfort and ease in life. While that might sounds all fine and dandy, comfort and ease are not what we are looking for in life if we really want to see results. But hey, if you aren't really tryna reach your goals and would rather just be comfortable with the feeling of having those goals and never taking action on them, all power to ya. That's just not the way I want to live and if you agree, keep on reading! A Quick Overview of the Article
What Is This Decision? It actually comes up more than a handful of times each day. So, what is this all important choice that we make so many times a day, yet only takes five seconds and is so important in terms of our future growth? Any guesses? Nope, not the choice to be happy and start thinking more positive, even though this is very important. It is actually the decision to do what is harder, but you know is "the right thing" each and every time it comes up in your day to day. Key word, each and every time. It is easy to do what is hard once or twice and then feel good and start going back to what is easy, that is not how this works though. What exactly does this include though? Here are some examples... You know you should start that essay but there is a new movie on Netflix, choose the essay. You know you should write that blog but going to read sounds easier and you can say you are "learning" to avoid any real work, write the blog. You are on the way to your room when you notice some laundry on the floor, do you pick it up or do it later? Pick it up now. The Oreos are already in your hand and you are ready to eat them but you know you should be eating more healthy, put the Oreos down. Or your friends want to go out for the third night this week but you know that you have homework to do. I bet you can guess what I'm about to say... stay in tonight. Why Is This So Important? If you can master this, you can start to make real change. I am not saying here that you need to never have fun again, there just gets to a point where when your whole life is revolving around fun and doing what is easy, that gets to become a problem. Doing this is exactly how you train your mind to become more resilient and build that mental endurance. When you start practicing and engraining this into your mind, you will start to see real results in areas you previously struggled to find results in. Why? No longer are you avoiding what is uncomfortable and challenging, now you are doing everything that is not as easy, you start used to doing the hard shit. Now that you are used to doing the hard shit, this will help translate into more important areas of your life, not just picking up the laundry ;) You will start to dive head first into uncomfortable and challenging situations that others might avoid in relationships, making much stronger and deeper relationships. In work, you will start to do all the work that others are trying to avoid and notice yourself flying past the results of everyone else. Even at the gym, you will start embracing what you previously avoided because it was too hard and you will notice your physical results changing before your eyes. The key to these results though is when you make the "right choice" every time, it is easy for us to make it a few times and start to see the progress and then rest a little bit and go back to our old ways. That is not how you are going to see results. Why Is It So Hard to Make This Choice? You won't ever make any real progress until you start mastering this. Well, we spend most of our lives trying to avoid uncomfortable situations and do what is not as challenging. Why? Because that what is easier and what makes his feel better about ourselves, even though we might not be getting real results. We might be doing a lot of "easy stuff" day in and day out and feel like we are busy and productive but when we take a step back in 5 years we will see that we really haven't gotten any closer to the goals that we have set for ourselves. Doing what is hard is not what comes easy to us, even though we know it is the right thing to do. Why would you want to choose the harder option when the easy option its right there and won't impact your life as much, especially if we are just talking about putting some dirty dishes away? Because that action, complied with all the other actions of doing what is easy, engrains into our mindset this habit and that will just become second nature to us. I hope by now you are realizing that this action becoming second nature to us might be a bad thing. How You Will Notice Changes When You Start to "Win" This DecisionYour mind might be blown. No longer will you be working as hard, doing things that don't matter all in trade for NOT seeing results. You can now have the confidence to jump into those harder situations and do the hard work there, where you will actually see significant results. Talking about confidence, when you start doing the hard shit, what everyone else is avoiding, you are likely going to have a major confidence boost if you were struggling in the past to find one. Plus, as I already talked about above, you are going to be seeing so many more results in all areas of your life because the results lie in doing the work that is hard, yet everyone spends their whole lives trying to avoid doing what is hard and especially what makes them uncomfortable. Wonder why so many people end up with lives they are not happy with, weird? Let's Take Some ActionIf you read the blog the other day, this is the "dirt" of the post, where we actually help you take action! If you have no idea what I'm talking about, check out the blog post here >> Almost every day I will sum up the blog in some mental "workouts, which are essentially going to help you train your mind, much like you would train your body at the gym. Exercise #2: Get Up 2 Hours Early Reps: 1x per day (obviously as you only wake up once) Duration: Try it for a week Notes: This is going to be hard as hell and you are going to think "I don't even NEED to be doing this, so why am I?" To train your mind to do what is hard, that is why. Exercise #3: No Sugar Reps: All Day Duration: 1 week Notes: Actually much harder than you might think it would be, it's easy to make that quick decision to eat that ice cream, what if you can't make that decision this week? Now what? Exercise #4: Cold Shower Reps:1x per day Duration: 3 minutes Notes: To train your mind to do the most uncomfortable thing, hot showers are easy as f**k. Exercise #5: Make This Decision the Sole Focus This Week Notes: Everywhere else in your life that this applies, every decison that comes up during the day, make sure you are making the right one.
