While it might be true that back in the day we all chose one job or skill around age 20-30 and then that is exactly what we did for the rest of our lives, that is not the case today.
Today, we constantly are learning and building skills so that when we come across that next opportunity, we are able to act on it and successfully transition to the next stage in life.
Now you might be asking yourself "What the heck does this have to do with me earning some extra income?" Don't worry, it will all loop around.
We now that a side hustle is just that, something you do on the side to either fulfill a passion that isn't fulfilled in your day to day job, or to supplement your income in order to help pay some bills or start to travel more.
But, what if you don't really have any skills to transition to a side hustle and have not spent enough time learning a certain niche in order to make money from it or teach about it. Don't worry if that is you because a lot of people are in the same boat where they have not really taken time in their lives yet to master something, we all start somewhere.
That is where this side hustle comes into play, it helps you supplement a part of your income while at the same time giving you time to focus on learning more about your niche, or even just more about your job so you can get promoted.
Even better, it helps you build a handful of skills that will translate to every area of your life and every future money making opportunity.
While this may not be a long term side hustle (that you build a business out of or that you use to double your income, if you're already making a good chunk of money) it is definitely an effective stepping stone that will help you build skills to move onto the next phase of life!
The Best Side Hustle of 2019
There are so many side hustles out there, how do you know this might be the one for you?
First off, maybe I should actually tell you what this thing is that I have been using for the last four years to supplement some income, it's called reselling, "flipping," or retail arbitrage.
Essentially you are finding a handful of ways to find items for much lower than you are able to sell them for locally or online and profiting on the difference of what you bought and sold it for, which can sometimes be a substantial amount.
I have been doing this since sophomore year of high school when I was working retail and noticed some clearance items on sale for much cheaper than they were on eBay. Long story short, I bought like 20 pairs of headphones and flipped them at like a $50-60 profit each!
There are many side hustles on there right now, a lot of which make money as well, so it is all about figuring out what your goals are and what works for yourself.
Are you just trying to add some purpose in your life or start something that you can grow into a larger company, and already have the skills? Then maybe this isn't for you.
But, if you haven't spent enough time in the niche you want to create something in and want more time to learn, this could be a great way to add some income while leaving you with some time to learn as well.
Or, if you are really not sure about what skills you have at the moment, then why not focus on this until you find a clear path for what you want to do next? A little side income for traveling never hurt anyone!

How This Side Hustle Can Help You Make Extra Money
It might not be the long term play but it sure can help you pay some bills or get some extra travel money.
As you read above, this is a side hustle that I have liked to use, and encourage people to use, as a stepping stone for when you are looking for some extra money to pay the bills or even to just go out and travel the world.
It is super versatile and pretty much anyone can do it, unlike other side hustles where people have spent years building a skill, such as car mechanics or something along those lines.
While you might not see money right away, you are going to start to get the hang of it pretty quick if you put in some time and you will start to see money faster than a handful of other side hustles, like writing a blog which slowly grows and eventually starts to earn you money through affiliates or your own products.
I am not going to fully get into how exactly to start here as I have already written extensively about that in a few blog posts so I will link those below.
Also like I said, this is not really a long term play, though it can be for some, but it is a great stepping stone for getting some momentum in your life and building skills while you learn about other things.
Here is a blog post on reselling that can help get you started >>
Here is a free guide that goes a little more in depth on reselling >>
Why This is The Side Hustle You Need
This can build those skills for the other areas of life, it's a win-win.
I think the best thing about the reselling side hustle is that it has a low barrier to entry, you could start right now after reading this. There is no business plan you need or giant marketing plan, you just go out and find the items and then list them for sale and wait for a notification of the sale.
It takes a little research before buying while you are at the store, using the eBay and Amazon apps, but that is about it. This means that you can spend as much or as little time as you want on it, obviously less time will mean less products to profit from.
Finally, you can start building life long skills that will translate to almost any area of your life. For example, you are going to master the purchase, which is where you make your money because if you buy too high you aren't going to profit, which is super helpful in any product related industry as well as real estate.
Again, if you are interested in starting, I made a free guide to help you do so, as I am not going to break it down in full detail in this post. Click this link right here to download that guide >>
What Skills You Can Learn Reselling
They are life-long and will help in almost every area of your life.
Not everyone is going to learn the same skills, depending on how you go about selling and what skills you already have, but there are handful of skills that you are going to have the potential to learn through this side hustle.
The first few being skills that will help you in any area of life, being able to market and sell a product. If you want to profit you are going to have to make a sale, whether it be to a local buyer or to an online buyer, and they are likely going to ask you questions before the purchase, which is your time to shine. Take time to answer and make it a purposeful response, especially with an in person sale where you are face to face (this is where you will learn the most).
Along with the ability to learn how to sell and market a product, you are going to run into negotiations about how much someone wants to pay for a product, because a lot of the online platforms (like eBay) allow buyers to place bids or negotiate the price if you are willing. This will teach you how to win a negotiation and how to say no when you aren't going to profit enough, which is super important because a lot of people just try to make the quick sale and don't realize that there will almost always be another buyer.
Finally, it is going to for sure push your comfort zone and make you more uncomfortable at first because you aren't exactly sure what you are doing. This is great though because it helps you grow and eventually you will see that you get more comfortable in these uncomfortable situations and when a situation comes up in life that you aren't comfortable with, it will be a little bit easier as you can look back on this and see how it eventually became comfortable, so there is no need to worry.
Everyone is going to suck at first until they get the hang of it, so if you are negotiating well, or aren't buying the right products, just stick with it and you will find more profitable ones down the road!
How These Skills Will Translate to Your Future Endeavors
Take these skills and let them help you.
The skills I mentioned above will help you in anything you plan to do in the future, I can bet on it.
Because everything is based around sales, marketing and dealing with people. Just take the simple example of looking for your next job, you have to market yourself to future employers as well as sell your points as why they should hire you during the interview.
Or, if you are starting a business, you might have a great product idea or a great service but if nobody knows about it you will never make any money.
Even within another organization, if you are able to master sales and increase sales to a company, they will keep you around because this means you are increasing the profits of the company and they would be lower without you. Also within a department, you have to sell your points to your boss and constantly be marketing your skills and proving them so you are able to move up the latter.
Finally, look at a more personal thing, relationships. You have to sell yourself and why another person should be with you if you want to go on a date with them, which could hopefully lead to a family in the future. If you lack the ability to sell yourself, or lack the confidence, then you are not going to find yourself a suitable partner.
Everything in life can be broken down into sales and marketing essentially.
