Motivation is Fake, Here is What Will REALLY Get You Ahead In Life...

Sitting there scrolling through motivational posts on Instagram thinking "Why the fuck do these don't work?"

Well, don't worry because I was in the same boat sitting there for hours trying to find some sort of motivation.

Watching YouTube videos, speeches, reading books, looking at posts, thinking... just trying to find ANY sort of motivation to get me to take some action towards my goals.

Guess where that got me?

Absolutely nowhere.

YUPPPP... years of my life wasted and getting nowhere because I was trying to find motivation or trying to get the right plan. Such a waste of time.

So, I decided to take a step back because obviously this "motivation" shit wasn't working. I needed to find out what actually works.

The Truth About Motivation

No matter ho many books you read, how many damn videos you watch or posts you look at... motivation is just not sustainable like people think it is.

People assume they are supposed to be motivated 24/7 and the most successful people are always motivated to be doing amazing things.

That is NOT what is happening.

This mindset just gets you buying more books, reading more posts and watching more content in hopes that you will SOON find the motivation you need.

But the reality is that is you follow this route is you will get NOWHERE and just end up settling for where you are or what you have in life.

Thinking that it just wasn't meant for you.

Well, you were really just missing on thing that could have actually gotten you to where you wanted to be... that is the realization that motivation is temporary and your habits and actions control your life.

Motivation is Temporary

Ever notice that little spike of motivation you get after watching one of those speeches from like Gary Vaynerchuk, Eric Thomas or even after listening to Podcasts like The MFCEO Project or Cardone Zone?

Well duh because that is how it is supposed to be.

Motivation will just last a little bit and then fade after a few hours or days.

Because when its comes at the right time in your life it is powerful and can LEAD to change but not totally create change.

It can lead to change in what really matters in your life: your daily routine and habits.

It can give you that little boost you need to reshift your focus and change your habits to be more geared towards success, taking action and learning.

Stop listening to all these podcasts and reading all these books in hopes to find motivation. That is not the way to go about this journey of success.

Instead start focusing more on taking in 75% of educational content that will help you get ahead in your niche and actually get you somewhere in life because you are taking ACTION.

Trying to find motivation is NOT TAKING ACTION it is just tricking yourself into taking action.

Real action is first educating but more importantly putting to use what you learn.

Own Your Day With Habits

Well if motivation isn't the answer... what is?

Habits and your daily routine are the answer.

Right after I stopped looking for motivation and "planning," I started to notice change coming into my life.

I started to see RESULTS.

Isn't that what we all want?!

The answer to that should be YES!

When you take control of your life, starting with one thing it drives your success because soon you are creating these great habits that drive your towards your goals, even on the days where you don't feel like doing ANYTHING.

If you were still on the path to looking for motivation, on the days that you don't feel like doing anything you would resort to Netflix, YouTube or playing Xbox because you don't value time as much.

But when you have the habits set in place, take control of your day, when you don't feel like doing shit you will fall back to your habits, which in this case are going to be more productive and get you farther in life.

This has to be the most clarifying and important thing that I have realized on this journey so far as it has helped me find results and value time more!

Where To Start Building Habits

Well once you start to realize the fact that motivation should only be used to jump start you to take action to change your habits you have to find some places to start...

So where do you start and with what habits do you start with?

Well this is totally going to vary based on the type of person you are and the habits you already have, but there are a few main categories to really look at when you are taking the steps to change your life.

Those categories are fitness, health, passions, education and personal.

For all of these categories the key here is to go all in a don't just dabble.

You don't see results when you dabble.

Start tracking numbers for food and workouts, start taking chunk out of your day to learn. Start tracking everything. JUST DO MORE!

What I Did To Start Building Better Habits and To Regain Control in My Life

What I did was to start with my fitness and health because that was the easiest to start with just for me.

Since I already had a gym at my school and a gym membership at home I just had to start going all in, so that is what I did.

I used to just dabble at the gym but this was different I needed a change.

So I started tracking everything in a journal, timing my breaks, working out at certain times of the day based around when I was eating and just tracking everything to see the results.

Hand in hand with working out, I started to eat right and track every single thing I was eating and why I was eating it, focused on counting calories, fats, carbs and proteins and I started seeing not only physical but this was helping my mental state as well.

A great app I use to do this is called My Fitness Pal, and it makes it super easy to track both foods, exercises and water intake for every day and show you your trends.

Next I moved onto my education category because that was another big one for me that would be an easy change.

Like I talked about above about cutting back the motivational shit and starting to listen to things that will actually get ahead, that's what I did.

I started ready while I did my cardio each day as well as for an hour before bed... both books and articles online around my niche.

I also cut back the music I was listening to to make room for more podcasts, but not just motivational ones but actually ones that help.

Some of my favorite podcasts are The School of Greatness, The Tai Lopez Show, The MFCEO Project and The Cardone Zone.

Next, on a more personal level this is a pretty broad category as it is more based around what you need personally. Do you need to quit some bad habits like YouTube and Xbox like I had to? Or even do you need to start cutting some people off like I also had?

The best way I found to beat these hard to kill habits like YouTube, Xbox, Netflix, Instagram, etc was that every time I started to thing about them or found myself with extra time where I could be doing them I started to do something productive like creating social media posts or reading.

This allowed me ti create new habits and forget about the old ones... but trust me this takes a hell of a long time and I am still working on this!

Another more personal one for me was i wanted a sharper and more clear brain that could think more on the fly, so I started doing word puzzles and brain training apps for 30ish minutes a day to just get my brain active and thinking!

Finally, the most important habit to build and work on is one of chasing your passions This is going to be different for everybody but the best piece of advice I can give here is like what I said about the YouTube and Xbox habits above...

Every time you think about wanting to play more Fortnite or watch more Netflix shows, try and do something productive in your niche to help build the habit of chasing your passions as your go to rather than TV.
This has been one of my favorite blog posts to write so far! Thank you for the constant support guys!!
