Some Helpful Tips On Growing Your Social Media Following (From What We Have Learned So Far)2/20/2017 Hey guys, thought we would bring you a short blog post today on some of the best things we have learned while starting to grow our following on social media. We decided to do this in order to give you all a sneak peak at our upcoming social media startup guide where we will share the top tools we are using in order to get you social media account up a running. We know we don't have a huge following yet but we have a decent sized one and have learned a ton about what to do and what not to do in terms of growing a following and we would love to share these tips and more importantly the tools we have used to get started growing on social media! **Plus this guide will be free so stay tuned and let your entrepreneurial friends know about us in order to start on the journey to success together... because if you are going to succeed and live the life of your dreams, why not do it with your friends and not solo?!** Lesson #1: Offer Value or Nobody CaresFirst off, the "oxygen" that keeps us alive on social media is attention because without the attention you have nobody who cares about what you are doing and in turn you wont generate the traffic to your website or products that you were hoping for... The way to get that attention is to offer some sort of value to your followers whether that be through great content, products/ services that will help them solve their problems or whatever it may be. The moment people start noticing you because you are solving their problem and offering them true value then they start paying attention to what else you re doing. I mean really who wants to follow just another account who is posting the same quotes over and over and selling their get rich quick on Instagram scams? Nobody.. Offer true value and start to stand out, that is how you will get the attention you are looking for and start to grow a trusting audience! Lesson #2: Engage In Your Community & Make It Seem Like You Are EverywhereCommunity engagement is hands down the most important aspect of our success on social media, other than offering value of course. This is because when you engage one on one with people on social media it starts to build your relationship with them and they start learning more about what you do other than what you show in your posts. This relationship you create is key because people buy from who they trust and when you start building a relationship you re in turn building up their trust in you. Some of the best ways we engage on social media is both on all comments on our posts, commenting on larger accounts posts within our niche (this is a great strategy to help find people with similar interests), liking/ engaging/ following similar accounts and finally engaging related hashtags using the search feature on platforms such as Instagram and Twitter. Lesson #3: Create Relationships & Nurture ThemOne of the most time consuming but rewarding aspects of growing and creating a powerful brand on social media is the relationships you create and friends you engage with, when done right. The key is to make relationships with other accounts and start engaging with them and they can start engaging with you as well. Another great thing about creating trusting relationships is that they give you someone to bounce ideas off of or just talk business with when needed. Some ways that we engage with other accounts and create these relationships is going through the relevant hashtags in your niche using the search feature and then direct messaging them to start up a conversation and offer them value. Then you ca use these relationships to do things like trade shout outs or create engagement groups, which are essentially a group of people in one DM group that put their posts in there and all other accounts engage with the accounts that post. These shout out and engagement groups can help your growth a ton as you will be found by the followers of all the others accounts in your group as well but they can also take away from the valuable content you are posting on your page... and engagement groups can take away from time throughout your day. We learned this the hard way spending so much time engaging in groups and doing shout outs, not focusing on the bigger picture. Highly recommend you don't do this as it really slows down growth! Lesson #4: Leverage The Power of the DMThe direct message is a crucial feature on platforms such as Instagram and Twitter as it helps us have private conversations with similar accounts, to nurture relationships and with potential clients to help them solve their specific problems and offer them value. A great way that we use DM's is to find accounts with similar interests as you and ones that you feel like your product or service could help and DM them with a genuine (not automated) message and explain how you are liking their content and you feel like you could be of value to them in their future. DON'T SELL IN THE FIRST message, grow the relationship and keep offering value with nothing expected in return before the sell.. this will create powerful relationships. It is super important that you don't use automated DM's and pretty much any automation tool to "grow followers" or "get more likes" most of those are scams and result in fake followers and fake likes, which do nothing to your brand because they will never engage or click through so that you can offer them value. Lesson #5: The Search FeatureThe search feature on platforms, especially those such as Instagram and Twitter are super powerful tools that not many people are leveraging at the moment. The search feature helps us to search relevant hashtags to our account, search topics related to our account and even search people with similar interests. This is the way that we find accounts to engage with, DM with and create relationships with because they are the people that care about what we are doing and they are the ones who, if we run a business, we could offer the most value to and solve their problems! Don't just call it good after uploading your content on a platform, start to engage using the search feature and excel your relationships and growth.
