Your stress seems to be something that you just live with.

As we get older, we get more thrown on our plates and stress is the inevitable result of those extra responsibilities.

What do most people do when they accumulate this extra stress is just push off thinking about it and let it accumulate over time.

Slowly, you start to have more and more stressful things in your life and in a short period of time, you are using a good amount of brain space just harboring this stress.

Then what happens?

Years go by and you are not thinking at optimal levels, your thoughts are hazy, you lack ideas and you really are just going through the motions of life.

This is exactly what not to do.

You don't have to keep pushing off focusing on your stress because you are "too busy."

It is time to make time in your life to focus on this stress and reduce it, that time investment will pay itself back in terms of clarity and results, ten fold.

Why Are You So Stressed?

It comes with the day and age we live in, that doesn't mean you can't change it though...
It just seems to be the "norm" recently, being so stressed and it is almost like people are bragging about it.

That just blows my mind.

What is exactly causing stress in your life? Well I am sure you already know or at least have a good idea, but in case you are really in the dark, these are some off the main causes of stress I have seen and experienced myself.
  • Technology: We are spending less and less time in the real world and more time behind screens, screens definitely do not calm us down...
  • Social Media: How can you not be stressed when you are constantly comparing your life to the lives of others that you see on social media?
  • Relationships: You know the people that you stress you out yet you still hang out with them because you feel obligated. Yeah don't do that.
  • School: How can you not be stressed when they constantly throw piles of homework and never ending tests in your direction? I know it stressed me out a hell of a lot.
  • Work: Yeah try balancing this with school, when work in general is stressful trying to get all your goals met.

What Stress Does to Your Mind and Body

A lot more than you think.
Obviously it is nothing good, and I'm sure you are experiencing this first hand right now if you are reading this article.

When we carry years of built up stress, without addressing it, it takes up space in our minds that could be used for more productive and positive thoughts.

Even if you don't realize if you are carrying this stress, you could subconsciously be hurting yourself and your mindset from years of unaddressed stresses.

With all this space taken up by stress in your subconscious mind, what exactly does this do for your thinking and body?

Well, first off your thoughts are going to be hazy, with all of these distractions in your mind. You will not really be able to focus on one thing or whatever you are working on.

This leads to distractions and then you start thinking that distractions are your problem, when in reality it is the subconscious stress in your life.

What else does this stress do?

Your brain is constantly full of thoughts, especially when you are stressed, and this is going to lead to lack of ideas and lack of action because you just can't stay focus or think about one topic deeply.

This is where your life can start to suffer as results might decline in school or work. if you are experiencing this right now, I would highly suggest you look at the stress in your life and not just try to study or work more.

The good news? You can do something about this starting RIGHT NOW.

Why Most People Don't Solve Their Stress Problem

"Too busy" is not an excuse.
There really is only one answer for this, because people think that they are "too busy."

In reality they are just prioritizing the wrong things.

It doesn't take more than a half hour to an hour each day to focus on your mindset and stress, yet for some reason people think they have no time to do so.

This is the most common daily practice from some of the top CEO's, from meditation to taking a walk, and I can almost guarantee that you are not more busy than they are.

We just fill our days with tasks that aren't as important, but they make us feel busy so we keep doing them. I do it, you do it, we all do it.

This is one of the best things you can work on in order to free up  a lot more time for yourself during the day.

How to Start Getting Rid of Your Stress

Yes, you don't have to constantly be living stressed out.
You can actually start getting rid of and calming this pattern of stress in your life, crazy right?

And it is not going to require you to quit your job and go meditate for three years in order to do so, you can actually do it effectively in a short period of time each day.

I am going to give you some workouts that you can do for your mindset here in a second, but I first wanted you to realize some main concepts that you can focus on if you want to create some workouts off your own for your stress, ones that might fit your lifestyle a little better.

Get outside more, get off the technology. It is a really simple concept, you need to start enjoying more of the present instead of constantly stressing about the past or worrying about the future.

Go to the gym, go on a run or just be active. Get your mind focused on the challenge and stress that exercise bring sit, it will definitely help clear your mind.

Meditate and take time with your thoughts to actually clear your mind. Combine this with breath work and you will be able to more effectively clear your thoughts and stresses. You can find great free resources on YouTube to do just this.

Focus on your sleep, the better you sleep the better your mind will be. Wake up less stressed and with clearer thoughts. (I'll go over how to do this in one of the exercises below).

Why Do You Need to Make Time to Get Rid of Your Stress?

It will pay for the time investment in terms of way better results in other areas of your life.
This is a straight and simple answer and if you haven't gotten the point of this article yet, here it is...

When you aren't getting results in school, work, or just any area of your life that you have to think critically, it might not be that you aren't working hard enough or that you aren't studying enough.

It might be that your stress is blocking your mind from thinking freely and clearly and your ideas and thoughts are suffering.

Start by looking at the stress that is in. your life and what you are doing to calm those stressors.

If the answer is nothing, start there and get your mind more clear for ideas and thoughts.

Your Daily "Workout"

Almost every day I will bring you these "workouts" at the end of the articles to actually help you take action and change your mindset.

Why?

Because that is one of the major things I see missing in personal development, the actionable advice. Everyone has ideas and theories that are "up in the clouds," yet they never come down to Earth and give us some real ways to change.

And that is what MMNTM is for, to help you actually change in a unique and fun way, it's like taking your mind to the gym every day at yourmmntm.com/blog

Exercise #1: Turn off your phone an hour before you want to fall asleep
Duration: 1 hour
Notes: You have to start to sleep better if you want any chance at clearing your mind and organizing your thoughts. Let your brain rest and wake up recharged, not stressed. During this time focus on learning through reading and meditation, that way you carve out time in your day to do both.

Exercise #2: Get Outside
Duration: 45 minutes
Notes: Simply take a walk, organize your brain and live more in the present. There really is no better way. I am listening to the Bill Gates documentary on Netflix in the background right now and they actually just talked about this!

Exercise #3: Get Active
Duration: 45 minutes
Notes: Other than the walk you will start taking, get to the gym and challenge yourself even more physically to get rid of stress. It's proven, easy and really works.

Exercise #5: Meditate
Reps: 1-2x per day
Notes: Really the foundation to organizing your thoughts and getting rid of your stress. Look up some stress relief meditations on YouTube, start with a guided meditation until you get a little better and more comfortable with it.

Exercise #6: Wim Hof breathing
Notes: If you haven't heard of it yet, it is a game changer and here is a video explaining all of it: Click here to learn more about Wim Hof >>
Just like that another day on the blog is in the books! Thanks for all the support and if you enjoyed this or learned anything I just ask one thing: bring a friend back tomorrow! Time to make personal development more "normal" because it is at the foundation of every area of our lives. Stop back with a friend tomorrow-- yourmmntm.com/blog

Now be sure to actually put what you learned to use, don't just read about it and make yourself feel like you are taking action, actually take action!
