What is up guys, Happy Super Bowl Sunday to all of us in the United States!
Thought we would kick off the day with a short little blog about our thoughts on success in business relating to success in The Super Bowl and just sports in general!
This is a super fitting topic today as the athletes who are competing have reached the top of their game in their niche (of football) as well as in both the mental and physical aspects of their life.
We wanted to make this blog to show you how their journey to the Super Bowl relates to our journey to creating their dream life, and what we can learn from these teams/ athletes.
Hustle & The Journey To The Super Bowl
I Cringe whenever I hear someone complaining that athletes get paid too much, like they put in 100x the work you are putting in and you expect the same results, like that's not how the game works bro. If it were so easy then we all would be playing pro ball...
They dedicated years if not their whole life to the game they loved, putting in the early mornings and late nights to get to where they are. Hell, they were even grinding on the weekend while everyone else was talking about how drunk they were going to get.
They did all this work not knowing what the future held, or what opportunities would arise becasue there was no clear path. But they did have one thing, that is the love of the game and that passion rove them day in and day out because they loved the challenges and they saw even the smallest improvements even when others didn't. They loved the process that their journey, to hopefully the NFL, took and to them it wasn't about the money or the fame but the pure love for the game.
It took years of hard work that continued through high school, putting in all of their time outside of school on their passions and knowing actually what they wanted out of life. The years, not day or weeks, that it took was painful when there were little results to show but they keep pushing through because they saw the bigger picture and trusted the process.
Eventually, the results started to show as they got picked up by a college only to dedicate 4 more years of their life to the process to hopefully get drafted into the NFL. Four more years of non stop work without a clear end in sight and never knowing what the future will hold but they are still driven by the love of the game.
Each year more and more opportunities opened because they were creating their own luck through the work and making more opportunities for themselves. They kept having more opportunities come to them each year and eventually one of those opportunities was to play in the NFL.
Once in the NFL, they found that goal to strive towards and their purpose for the game besides just the love of the process, and that was the Super Bowl.
Rather than getting drafted being the end of their journey, it was instead just the beginning, as now they were working just as hard and enjoying the process more i order to play their part in inning the Super Bowl.
As the players that started as young kids and never gave up on the process have now reached the Super Bowl with the goal of winning, they have had many opportunities that they have successfully answered. They have been able to go all in on all opportunities up to this point but who will execute it better?
The game will be decided today on executing the plan and who can execute better. It's all in the execution, no matter how good the team is, if they don't execute they lose. It is that simple!
How The Super Bowl Relates To Our Journey of Entrepreneurship
There is no better industries that relate to business better than sports and music because both require those who pursue them and their passions to take massive action towards a vision with no clear end goal and a long time before they see any success!
Here are just a handful of ways how the Super Bowl and the players' journey relates to our journey in business and entrepreneurship:
#1: They Chase Their Passions
They put in the work, not becasue it is showing results but because it is what they are passionate about, they couldn't see themselves doing anything other than being on the football grind. That is what we have to find in business, find something you love so much you aren't able to see yourself doing anything else, and when you find that go all in on it.
#2: They Enjoy The Process:
The players in the NFL didn't put in the work becasue they loved the money, rather they loved the game and the process that it took to get the NFL. The process takes years before you see any results, but that doesn't faze them because they love the morning workouts and two a day practice, it's a process and they would rather be doing nothing else. Find a process in business that you will enjoy and we will stick around for much longer than those who are chasing the money, that will put the odds of success in our favor.
#3: There Is No Clear Destination, Only A Vision
Just like in business, nothing is guaranteed. This is not like college where you see the degree and most likely a job at the end of the tunnel, us as well as the NFL players never know what lies ahead, or if ny of this work will pay off but we just trust the process and act based on our vision.
#4: Years of Work Before We See Results
Players who have made it to the NFL have put in years and years of work, likely up until later in their high school career, until they saw results and then even more years before they saw results in college and eventually the NFL. Just like in business where we are putting in years, yes years not months, of work until we start seeing any results or gaining any traction. This is not like what the "get rich quick" systems are telling us but it is the truth...
5: They Take Control of Their Life
They have made the choice to not let anyone tell them what they should do day in and day out and then worked towards their visions making every decision based on what they knew deep down was right. We are also doing this, putting in the work day in and day out so we can have full control over out lives.
6: Their Results Bring Their Dreams Into Reality:
The more and more action the players took, the more results and opportunities started to come their way. More doors were open for them as they worked on making their dream a reality and the same can happen for us. The more work we put in, content we create and connections we make, the more opportunities that will be presented to us. Then it's just a matter of chosing and taking action on them to get results.
7: Everyone Wonders How They Did It
Once they have made it to the NFL or even the Super Bowl, people that new them early in their life/ career start to wonder how they did it and become interested in their story. The secret is the work, they just stuck around and put in more work than everyone else around them and we can do the same by just enjoying the process and putting in the work.
8: They Found A Bigger Purpose:
Whether that purpose to be make it to the Super Bowl after getting drafted or to help and make an impact in places outside of the game, they have found a bigger purpose after finding some success and now are finding eve more success thanks to that purpose. This is exactly something we need to be doing, because the bigger purpose helps to drive our day to day actions in the right direction. It's alright if you started your journey in hopes of making some more money, if you want to make a impact and find real success though you will have to find a bigger purpose.
Thanks for the read guys and enjoy the big game today :)
