Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life.

Everyone likes the idea of owning a business or working for themselves because of all the "free time" they will get and the ability to be their own boss.
Yet, they try to start something and it never ends up going anywhere even though it seems like they are "working" 24/7.
They are reading the books they thinkn they "need" to read, getting mentors and "taking action," yet they never seem to actually get the ball rolling.
Then, they discount starting a business and explain to others, that they told about their business, how it "just wasn't for them."
Is that really the case though?
This might have been the answer to their solution the whole time, but they were too "busy" to realize it.
Crap, I almost forgot! If you are new to the blog, thanks for stopping by! With MMNTM (mo-men-tum) my goal is to help you level up your mind and mindset with effective "workouts." Much like you would train your body, this is the gym for your mindset, everything from your happiness and mental clarity to mental discipline and productivity. These are the things that have helped me the most and I love sharing them with you daily on yourmmntm.com/blog so be sure to stop out daily!
Now let's get back to what you started reading for.
A Glimpse At What You're About to Learn
" A Day in the Life of TOO MANY PEOPLE"
They wake up early so that they can spend two hours doing their morning routine and then they go to the gym.
After the gym they maybe get a few hours of work done before heading to lunch and running some errands.
After that, back to work for another handful of hours before they decide that they need to read. A lot of people end up reading for hours, as it makes them feel like they are productive, and then maybe get back to work or maybe they don't.
They repeat this for years at a time and wonder why they never see any sort of results in their business.
They will tell you all about all the books and articles they are reading during the day, all the podcasts they are listening to on their walks and the gym and then act like that is how they are going to get closer to their goals.
Learning is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT, but there gets to be a point where it starts to interfere with your action because it makes you think that you are busy and productive, when in reality you are going nowhere fast.
Feeling "busy" and actually being productive are two different things that people never take the time to figure out, and it has a large part to do with the foundation of the mind that they have created over the years.

What You Might Be Doing Too Much of
And what you aren't doing enough of...
If you aren't seeing the results that you are looking for in business, you might be spending too much time "acting busy" and "playing business" and not enough time taking real action.
When you spend all your time trying to find the right habits, trying to learn as much as you can and then going to Starbucks and sitting with your MacBook while doing no work in order to look important, you are doing it all wrong.
All these things, except the Starbucks part, are very important but not as important as actually taking action. Why? Because if you aren't taking action, you are not getting any closer to your goals, it doesn't matter if you feel like your are or not, you aren't.
Utilize podcasts while you are at the gym and make sure you are reading and learning something every day. But don't let it get to the point where that is all you are doing, this is called "playing business."
These are the people that like the idea of starting a business, tell everyone about it and then never actually take real action to get there, they just make it look like they are.
Ask yourself if this is really what you want.
Why Your Mind Might Be The Cause of This
Our mind gravitates towards what is easy, which is not taking action for a lot of us.
If you have been around the blog long enough, you know that I like to say that your mind and mindset is at the foundation to everything in your life, because it holds true EVERY time.
How does it hold true in taking action in your business though? That seems like it is either something we are doing or something we aren't doing.
Well, that is true but if we dive even deeper, we can see that it comes from what we have conditioned our minds to think like.
Most people have always been looking for the easy way to do things and after years of doing this, you start to train your mind to see the easy things as things to gravitate towards and the "hard things" in life as things to avoid at all costs.
Even if this isn't your intention, if you have been taking the easy route in school and cheating on everything, not really learning, or at the gym, just lifting the same weights and not really challenging yourself, this will translate to your business as well.
Why wouldn't it?
Your mind is going to naturally look for the easiest thing to do, that still makes you feel like you are "productive" and that is going to be learning about business.
So, you spend countless hours buying courses, reading and listening to podcasts like it is your full time job, yet you never seem to get anywhere.
I'd say that it is time to start changing the way you think so that you can change your life.
What You Need to Focus on Instead
More doing, less staying "busy."
It's probably obvious by now, but if you like a good ol' step by step, the next step in your life is going to be start training your mind to do the hard things, not avoid them at all costs.
This doesn't mean that you are going to stop learning, because that is not good either, you are just going to prioritize your days differently.
If you aren't taking any real action because you are too busy staying busy, you likely aren't prioritizing your days.
You are just doing things when you feel like it and honestly when do you ever feel like doing something hard? Never, and that is why those things almost never get done.
I am going to give you a little mind workout to show you how to train yourself to start doing the hard things, but first let me explain the power of taking control of your morning.

First Step: Take Control of Your Morning
Start the day off in control, get the momentum rolling.
So, what does it matter if we do something in the morning or in the afternoon, as long as it gets done?
Yeah, that is what you have been telling yourself, most likely, and how has that worked out so far? Not ideal if you are reading this.
After my morning routine, I always find it most beneficial to get the hardest things done during the day, for two reasons.
First, when you do something in the morning, you make sure that they get done and not pushed off until "tomorrow" everyday, like we usually do with anything hard that we don't feel like doing.
This also sets the tone for the rest of the day, giving you momentum as well as clearing your mind so that you don't have this hard thing gloaming over you that has to get done all day.
I'd say that is a win-win, and I believe most people would agree with me.
Start taking back control of your morning, yes that is likely going to mean waking up earlier but it is going to be 100% worth it.
A Mental "Workout" for Doing MORE
Almost every day I will bring you these "workouts" at the end of the articles to actually help you take action and change your mindset.
Because that is one of the major things I see missing in personal development, the actionable advice. Everyone has ideas and theories that are "up in the clouds," yet they never come down to Earth and give us some real ways to change.
And that is what MMNTM is for, to help you actually change in a unique and fun way, it's like taking your mind to the gym every day at yourmmntm.com/blog
So, these are going to be workouts specifically to train your mind to do the things that are hard and not just what is easy and comfortable to do, it is going to be hard for a reason, as any workout should be.
Exercise #1: Take a Cold Shower
Duration: 5 minutes
Notes: Possibly the hardest thing that you will do all day, mentally and physically.
Exercise #2: Make Your Bed
Notes: I know it seems pointless and you don't want to because nobody will see it, but that is exactly why you are doing these exercises.
Exercise #3: Sprint Intervals
Reps: 1x per day
Duration: 20 seconds on, 10 seconds off, as long as you can.
Notes: This makes sure you can't just say you went on a run, yet never challenged yourself, this will make the run anything but easy.
Exercise #4: 1 Day Fast
Duration: All day
Notes: Yes, fast as in "not eating." It's hard, you will think about food all day, but it is challenging and has many other benefits such as increased focus and mental clarity as well as helping to reduce inflammation in the body.
Wow, just like that another day on the blog is in the books! Thanks for all the support and if you enjoyed this or learned anything I just ask one thing: bring a friend back tomorrow! Time to make personal development more "normal" because it is at the foundation of every area of our lives. Stop back with a friend tomorrow-- yourmmntm.com/blog
Now be sure to actually put what you learned to use, don't just read about it and make yourself feel like you are taking action, actually take action!
